Here in the UK I had group showers in school all of my life, just a big tiled room that you went into with the others and my daughters had the same thing. My grand daughter is going up to HS, and when we had a look around her school, I noticed that they had cubicles. In municipal gyms/swimming pools that I go too they are all communal, but I wonder if that is because the were built in the good old days.

The best environment was when I went to a festival and they had mixed showers. Being naked in front of the men was so erotic, even more when they got an hard on.

Playing sports in high school we all showered together practice or games and thought very little of it. When I went to college I lived in a high rise ,AKA elevator hell, that was built in the late 60’s, thus it had a communal shower and bathrooms. I had a 8AM class so I would shower of nights, up at 6:30, could catch a elevator at that time and just hope my bike had not been stolen. Yes quite a few other girls also showered at night so they were rather full. My soph year I got it a low rise but it also had the same setup.

Some years ago I done water aerobics with a woman up the street, after we were done we stripped off together and showered. Our facility had individual shower stalls but also one big open shower. So easier and quicker to just take a shower out in the open and be done with it.

When I began frequenting nudist resorts, I loved the open showers. Women, men, boys and girls all showered together.

One morning I was walking to a double outdoor shower to start my day. A woman was already showering so I waited by a table.

When she turned around and saw me waiting, she said come on in, the water’s fine. So I walked in next to her close enough to touch her and started my shower.

My then wife and I were members at a gym for ages 15-20 years ago and worked out most days at the same time. She knew I was interested in how women approached the changing room activities and would say even post “coming of age” many would rush to get the few enclosed cubicles to change in and would never show more than bare arms and feet! She always strutted up and down entirely naked, just carrying her towel and it would excite me knowing other women could admire her body.

When I secondary school showering was not an option after PE ( no showers available) but was compulsory after swimming. We were instructed to keep swimming costume on during showering and changing was done in separate cubicles.

This is a bit related, or perhaps less so, but in any case, I've noticed that on the (Spanish) nudist beach I've been going to, that virtually no males at all wear swimming trunks on the beach and surroundings. However while most females go topless, quite a percentage will still keep their bikini bottoms on. And I've seen couples, usually older, with the man nude and the lady still completely dressed in street attire.

Yeah when I started going at first I kept my bikini top on too but I started going topless when I was 20. A few years after that I started going fully nude so maybe some ladies take a bit longer to get used to it or they decide they are not going to take everything off at all.

I don't remember having any open showers in school. At one school after showering, I would wrap my towel around me, go get my clothes and finish drying off and dressing in a bathroom stall. I may have done that at other schools, I just don't remember.

After swimming practice some girls just rinsed with suits on, others showered. As a pubescent young teen, I tried to surreptitiously peek at breasts and pubic hair out of curiosity. It didn’t bother me to be naked in such a large group of girls, maybe because I didn’t think anyone would want to look at me (being naked with just one person was completely different, like my pediatrician and later with a girlfriend during sleepovers).

Neither my wife nor I went to a school where showers were mandatory (maybe not even optional) after PE. The couple years she stayed in dorms in college, showers were individual with a changing area attached, so next to no nudity from the sounds of it. Now I'm our mid 30s, we've joined the local YMCA for swimming and activities for the children and are exposed to adult locker room interaction. I've found the men's is completely devoid of modesty, with open changing areas and open shower room. I've also found that I enjoy this and embrace the group changing and showering. It sounds that the women's locker room has open areas and showers, but also individual changing areas available. My wife and her friend have taken a daytime swim aerobics class and she was shocked to walk into the women's locker room after to find all the other ladies showering together and wandering around nude while carrying on conversation. Her and her friend both use the individual changing quarters, though I've encouraged her to at least join the group in changing, if not join in on the showers. I've found I enjoy it and maybe she could as well. Plus I enjoy the thought of her on display with the other naked ladies.

In Junior High, the shower room was open. Because the showers were small, we were only required to shower once a week ie we had PE twice a week If you showered on Monday, you were not required to shower on Wednesday. I might add here that I wasn't overly modest but I wasn't an exhibitionist either. In my university our showers were co-ed. Progressive times. I’m not sure if anyone felt uncomfortable about that. The individual stalls had privacy glass, but then you had to come out to fetch your towel. Had a few peek-a-boo moments but fewer than I would’ve thought. (College students have varied schedules I guess.) In one case the girl and I locked eyes while naked. That was Lauren - a cutie but she kept to herself. So the moment wasn’t particularly charged. I liked the openness of it all. Demystifying more than titillating.

I think I've posted on a similar topic before, but my high school showers were communal. There were two cubicles at one end which were usually used by the teachers, but if you were quick into the shower you could sometimes use one of those before the teacher needed it. But mostly it was a case of spending as little time naked in front of the other girls as possible. There were a couple of girls who were less embarrassed..or at least seemed like they were, but most would wrap a towel and cover their boobs before dropping it to go into the shower, and then stand facing the wall for about 30 seconds under the water before repeating the cover boobs , grab towel ritual to head back to get dressed. Covering boobs seemed more important than hiding your genitals strangely enough. In some ways the whole communal experience was kind of reassuring when your body is developing, seeing that bodies come in all shapes and sizes

My wife never had to shower in groups growing up but she showers at the gym now because she knows it turns me on. She’ll tell me someone her nude and it’s a big turn on. I know it embarrasses her a little bit.

If I didn't already know your sex, I certainly would by your post. Females, especially those of junior high age (12 to 15), don't notice other vaginas other than perhaps public hair or lack of it. However, I assure you that females, although some may deny it, are very cognizant of what most have in the boob department. In fact, I have been in numerous conversations regarding boobs not only as a teenager but even as an adult. Rarely have I ever been in a conversation with another female regarding someone's vagina. Example: Now we who has the meat! Remember in the shower, whether it be at school, country club, or health club the lips of the vagina that females will notice are not really visible.

There was no way we could have anyway, there were only a few minutes between classes and we wouldn't have had time. At the gym I go to now the showers are segregated, I don't think I've ever seen otherwise. I feel silly about it but I know I'd feel really uncomfortable showering in a group.

Like I said, I feel silly about it. But practically no one has seen me naked and it's just not something I'm used to. Also I'm shy about my body, even though I know darn well none of those women would care lol, or might feel the same way I do.

Yes, i think so, it will be an " american problem " !! - but i don't unterstand it !! - one of the greatest countries in the world !! - and so shy people !!!

I did competitive swimming for 10 years and in the showers I noticed how over time we became older and the tendency was to shorten or shave our pubic hair. after the age of 20 almost all of us no longer had hair down there, partly for convenience and perhaps also partly to feel like we were part of the group
