Hi nurse
NEVER, NEVER go inside it is hell.
Violence, boredom and total lack of dignity add to the experience. The most trivial of things can start a riot or get you spending a spell in the infirmary.
Yes there are obviously very bad people in prison, but there is also people there that have no right to be there.
For a lot of people I spoke to it was the lack of dignity that made it worse. I got done because of my habit, my cell mate was only there on remand because of fate.
My cell mate was a 44 yr old mother who was only there because after years of abuse against a cruel husband, she turned on him and he had a better lawyer.
The last time she had shower in a group was at high school, now she had to do it all the time. Like most people even in marriage there is a certain privacy, we had none. You try and accommodate peoples feelings, but there is only a certain amount of times you can look away when someone is using the john 10ft from where you are laying.
We had a lot of problems with contraband. If it was in the cell we would have to take off our prison wrap, then our panties and in turn we had to turn away, bend over, pull our cheeks apart while a torch was shone up our arse by the guard. We had to show each other more than what was decent. For her the worse was having to line up with the others after a shower and stand there naked until we were told to bend over and spread our cheeks.
