Just how detailed of a scene or session do you prefer?

One thing I've been talking about with several people lately is the idea of a scene versus the proverbial "living the lifestyle". It got me thinking about how we all approach this a little bit differently based on so many different factors. I know there are many out there who prefer a quick play now and then while there are some of us that prefer to be immersed in it as much as humanly possible. So my question to all of you is how do you live out your med play? Do you favor just the short exam here and there, or is the exam just a tiny portion of a huge picture you've painted for yourself in the medical world? I'm curious to hear everyone's thoughts, gripes, comments, etc... as I have a feeling there are no two answers out there that are the same.

Interesting topic, great that you brought it up. I imagine that some of the answers will be influenced by the particular circumstances of the players involved. In my case, my partner and I are 1000 miles apart and we get together every 3 to 4 months, on average, for 5 or 6 days at a time. Due to other obligations, we've hit a real dry spell recently and haven't been together since November, and probably won't be until July. Lord willin' and the creek don't rise!

For us, there is no such thing as a quick exam. Because we are so far apart, and because there is so much time between visits, we have the opportunity to conjure up some really elaborate schemes. We even write roadmaps of our scenes together. I know that for some that sounds a little "anal", but he is an engineer and we're both control freaks, so that's what works for us. All that advance planning is a form of foreplay and serves to keep all the mechanics functioning in top form.

When we find something that really, really works for us, we tend to incorporate it into many of our scenes. "Repeat as needed". Our play sessions always begin with a thorough head to toe examination. In a way, it draws out the anticipation and helps both of us to get comfortable with being together again after a long absence. Usually the first day is devoted to exams, and after that we get into treatment and procedures. No matter what we do, we have a great time!

That's exactly the type of information I was curious about LadyDoc. I am trying to get a feel for the how's and why's of our lifestyle. Also, I've been thinking that some element of a routine not only adds to an overal sense of realism, but it does also serve a major purpose in getting doctor and patient comfortable, etc... I am currently without a partner and am enjoying being able to ponder all these different aspects. It gives us a chance to understand what makes us tock so-to-speak.

For me I envision the type of permanent relation where we actually can openly discuss the ideas and dreams all while keeping them in the back of the mind as starting points for future times together. Even if my Dr or patient was close geographically I've always thought that there are just certain elements that carry on in the relation itself that keep you in the mindset yet don't keep you actively participating every single moment. LadyDoc, how much time do you spend keeping in touch outside of the fetish part of your relationship?

I'm curious to hear from more like LadyDoc as well as from the other side of the spectrum... those that prefer just the casual quick exam.

On the weekdays, my partner and I talk on the phone at least twice a day. He calls me around mid-morning just to check in and see what our respective schedules are for the rest of the day. Then he calls me again in the evening and we generally have at least an hour together, sometimes more. Sometimes that time is devoted to deep discussions on any number of topics, except politics and college football. The teams that we follow (Carolina/Clemson, a fine southern tradition) are bitter in-state rivals, and our political views are just as diametrically opposed! We have agreed to disagree. Two or three nights a week we share time via webcam, those experiences keep us "in tune". On Saturdays, we generally have two or three hours together, that's almost always a webcam session. Sunday is a day off, we both have families to attend to.
