Hi, all. I've got problems. I use a standard drug-store type bag & nozzle (only a touch better quality, obtained from a local surgical supply store). I use lukewarm tap water, with a bit of salt added. I usually sit on the toilet to take the enema, because I get into messy retention problems too often to be any distance away. When I use this setup, one of three things happens:
1. The solution flows in fairly quickly and completely. These are the good times, but this doesn't happen very often!
2. I feel pressure, but the bag just doesn't empty. This used to happen a lot, but now I hang the bag higher, and that helps a bit - except when there's a substantial blockage, which still happens fairly often.
3. Maybe 1/2 a bag (around a litre or a quart) goes in, and I simply can't hold it any more. When that happens, I usually try again, hoping I've cleaned things out a bit and can take some more; but usually I just can't manage to hold more the second or third time around.
A retention nozzle (double balloon rectal catheter) might help the retention problem, but it's a bit hard to acquire discreetly. A butt plug might be helpful, but only AFTER I get enough in.
Any words of wisdom???
