I live in the USA and my annual exams seem to last about 45 mins to an hour from start to finish. This is including the time with the nurse, history taking, weight, height, pee in a cup, blood pressure, finger stick, pulse, and temperature.
The nurse calls me back, leads me to a bathroom where I pee in a cup unobserved. Then she takes me to the scale (fully clothed) and then the exam room and does a general history, updating any new medications since I last saw the doctor, a blood pressure check, and usually a finger stick (if they suspect a problem and want to check my iron levels) this whole process takes about 20 minutes give or take depending on how long we chitchat on my history.
Then she provides the gowns, tells me to take off everything (gack!) and the doctor will be right in. It feels like an eternity but then the doctor comes in. He takes a minute and listens to my heart and lungs, then has me lie back for the breast exam and the abdomen exam. All of that takes less than 5 minutes. A minute is a very long time when you count it and being exposed. He then moves to finish the exam by doing the pelvic. He inserts the speculum first and it takes about 2 minutes for all the swabs, then he does the manual exam feeling and pushing on my pelvis/lower abdomen which takes another 2 minutes. Its all over very quickly.
The longest time I was in stirrups was about 10 minutes for a vaginal ultrasound as ordered by the doctor.
I'm also not looking at the clock the whole time but rather shutting my eyes and praying its over soon.
