Since I'm not a doctor, I find it really hard to understand how they can simply separate play from work.

First of all, as posted earlier, very few patients are hunky muscular studs or nubile high breasted Playboy models. Second, even if they are, and remember 98% aren't, if they have pathology, that knocks their sexual desirability to negative numbers, Third, we will likely never be able to have any kind of relationship with them outside of the office. Fourth, it is legally and ethically wrong to get involved.
Finally, when we come home from the office, we still fuck our spouses good and hard (I had to be graphic here, sue me! 😁 😁 ) because they are the ones we love. The genitalia we see and handle at work don't turn us on like those attached our loved ones.
You'll understand when you are older. Don't take offense to that. Life is a learning experience. If I knew the same things at 40 that I knew at 20, I'd be very disappointed in myself.
