I usually have a female doctor but even then I have had a nurse in the room to help my doctor with my pap and bi-maual exam. The last time there was a nurse present was when my doctor was trying to get a cervixal sample to make sure there was no cancer and it hurt like nothing I can descibe.
I hate the thought of having a stranger there as a chaperone. I'd rather have someone of my choosing.Anyone else noticed, though, that we always tend to assume we're safe with a female physician? Not to say that it's not safer, but it's not impossible for a female physician to sexually assault a patient, either.
Why does everyone assume it is to both parties benefit to have a haperone present during an exam? Since the assumption of malicious intent seems to be suvch a prevalent thought in the US let´s assume the following scenario.Someone scheduled to have an exam takes a friend and confident along as chaperone. But afterwards, having colluded and agreed upon a scenario, both of these two people then claim sexual misconduct by the physician. Then it is 2 against one when it comes to giving their versions of events. What to do in such a case? Chaperone or not, nothing really guarantees anything to either party.Far worse is the erosion of trust that such practices work in hand.

Do I hear a move for 6? Curious 101
That is indeed what i mean ... once an erosion of trust starts to become commonplace there is no end to the mistrust and no real way of pleasing and safeguarding everyone included ...Which makes me wonder how it has come to such a condition in the first place ...
I have to agree with both of you here. The Dr needs one for liability. I have never considered asking someone to go with me, it's embarrassing enough
MY wife had a Male Gyno and never had a chaperone while she was examined. When his insurance agents told him that he had to have a chaperon My wife was told to have me come to her exams with her.She went to him for almost 35 years until he retired so we became very comfortable with him and she just went into the exam room and stipped nude for her exams. She was very broken hearted when he retired. Now she has a GYN exam every few years by her female PA. at the GP office.
Liability and trusts should be the one that determines it.I am not sure if the dr could type out a release for the patient to sign that she refused to have a chaperone present.
The same when I go see my gynecologist. I have never had a chaperone, except for one time and there was a student there too. That was the only time though.
I had my first gyno exam when I was 15. The male doctor asked it it would be alright for my dad to be in the room. Not knowing what was going to take place, I told him it was OK. Dad had seen me naked before but this was a little different. Dad asked the doctor if he thought I was developing and responding sexually for my age. The doctor said he could do some checks onn me. I said it would be OK. After the exam was over, the doctor started to rub my breasts once again. This time, he was playing with them. He even sucked on each one of them. He had me lay back down on the table and started to rub my clit. It was so exciting. When the doctor put his finger into me, I came so hard. He made me cum 5 times before he said I was doing just fine. I think he and dad enjoyed it as much as I did.REALLY???????
So, not only did the Dr. violate ethical code -- he did so with a minor.Your dad was totally OK with you being done that way at a Dr?Also, I've read your other posts.. You stated previously your first pelvic was 14.
Ladyj - if that had happened in the UK, and I am sure in many other countries including your own, not only would the Doctor be the subject of a court case, and more than likely be classed as a Schedule 1 offender but your father would be pretty close too. Noting your other posts there are one or two shall we say "discrepancies" with what you say, so maybe as we would phrase it "cloud cuckoo land" springs to mind.
Yes, and this should also apply, when you think about it, to certain aspects of psychotherapy. Many of us can recall people and families dammaged by charlatin fakes, weather they be licensed MDs or Clerics just serving their own lust and not genuinely caring for the sick! As with people who in like manner fake ilness to have access and play with a professional, giving the professional a bad name. It happens both ways. So, watch your back door, OK?
In response to graciar. I don't think this sexual issue is nothing new. The Men have been doing things to women who are trained to obey men and don't tell anyone.
Ladyj- I think your post belongs in Fantasies or New story and text submissions. JMHO- LadyDoc
Sounds like a very unlikely story to me as well and I´d have to agree this is either a fantasy in sum or else a remembered occurrence but very much embellished and expanded in the mind. And having a father as a chaperone doesn´t really sound very healthy to me either. Not for a gyno exam.
Normally she stands there looking bored out of her mind. I am the umpteen examintion she has watch today. As she is by the doctor, she sees what the doc sees.
The first gyn exam I remember was when I was a kid and had a yeast infection as a result of taking antibiotics. The gyno was male, and my mother stood at his side. He was very considerate of my fear and loathing. The 2nd one I remember was a man, no chaperone, who, before having me lie down, slid his hand up my thigh and said "I'll be very gentle". Although I love gyno sex fantasies, in the last few years I've become very untrusting of male gynos. The first female I saw after this conversion had a nurse present (I never did like nurses down there seeing all my equipment), and grazed my clit as she moved her (gloved) hand to exam my rectum. The grazing caused a fairly powerful electric sexual shock to run through my body, and needless to say, the subsequent rectal exam was very pleasant and I'm now rectally obsessive. I think my current doctor is a lesbian. It's just a feeling I get from her. I was hoping she'd accidentally graze my clit too, but alas!
I ve never had a nurse present at my gyno exams. But Ive made some specials exams wihen a nurse helps the doctor.
I do not feel I have ever needed one but have got them anyway. I still find it a bit disconcerting to be intimately examined and someone I do not know watching.
The only time I've had another professional in the room was a couple years ago when I went through some urological testing. The third visit required a Cytoscopy performed by a male physician so that appointment required a female chaperone. She was there for his protection and for my comfort as urological procedures are very uncomfortable. At the time of my procedure numbing swabs didn't do much. May be different now, but I damn near broke that girls hand. I have a urogical work up in November. Hopefully it's not as stressful since I know what to expect.
My female doctor always has a nurse present with her during the pelvic exam; however, I had a urgent matter and seen the male doctor who didn't have a nurse in the room with us.
I was present at my wife's exam. The male dr didn't have anyone else in the room. But my wife was well concealed from my view as she was wearing a gown. If he touched her in a bad way in wouldn't of seen it anyway.
My wife gynecologist is a male. I went once, and there was chaperon, nor is there a chaperon when I'm not there. I'm pretty sure she doesn't want one, especially a woman. I don't want a chaperon either, so I hope that's not a trend. I'd rather her be alone just with him. It's more erotic.
The chaperone (usually female ) for me either just stands there watching the whole exam which I find really uncomfortable and embarrassing or she passes the doctor the equipment ,sounds, speculum etcThey usually see me getting dressed /undressed as they are getting equipment ready and they watch every single thing the Dr does so they see everything breasts, vagina etc.I find it really embarrassing. The chaperone isn't always a nurse either. At the GP surgery if the Dr I'm seeing is male and the problem requires either my chest or pelvic area to be exposed then they use the receptionists if the nurse is busy. Even more embarrassing .
My GP and GYN have always given me a choice. When I had to see my pulmonologist, cardiologist and rheumatologist, they always gave me a choice. My dermatologist gives me a choice. I always choose no chaperone. My orthopaedic surgeon has a PA in his office. I have known this surgeon and his PA since 1986 and I am very comfortable with both of them and I do not mind the PA in the exam room or assisting or doing an exam before my surgeon comes in. We are all really good friends. All of them are male. I have every so often been asked to allow medical students and such to assist and perform exams over the years. They have all been male. I have had my Dr call in another Dr for a consult at the same time. They have always been male.My dentists, ophthalomologist, have always been male with female assistants and techs that are always there with the Dr.
For the most part they have watched as I was being examined, and acted as a gofor for the dr as they have required.
My GYN is female and she always has a nurse in with her. She basically assist with whatever the doctor tells her to do. Like with a pap she has everything ready and hands it to the doctor. She write my name etc. on the samples to be sent off. She will also ask if I need help dressing or undressing. I know everyone at my doctors office.
I've only had a female chaperone in the room when the doctor has been male. When I've had a female doctor do my exam, it has been just me and her in the exam room.
