In real life, for me, doctor's tone is very important. I have seen many doctors till now, both males and females. Almost all, barring a couple of them have been very polite. Whether I am sick or going for my annual exam, I don't want a strict doctor even though I generally remain calm and don't get so tensed at an appointment.
Doctor should have a polite tone, not just males, even the females.
For example, if I go to a gastro and he wants to have my T-shirt raised for examining my abdomen, I would really appreciate if a polite tone is used.
For me there's a difference between
"Raise your T-shirt: Strict (once I got aroused by these words of ultrasound nurse but not always)
"Can you please raise your T-shirt"/ "I will raise your T-shirt now": Polite/Informed
Others may feel it's pretty but I feel the difference. Not because I am a girl, but the doctor should always be polite and respectful of the patients. It helps according to me.
Having said that, the doctor should be knowledgeable. Politeness without knowledge is of no use. His/her diagnosis should be good. For a very brief period I had a very polite GP but he didn't seem confident while giving medicines. Went to that GP only 2-3 times.
All the above applies to only real life. In fantasy play I am fine with strictness, no torture though.
