I can recall my physical for college that as I look back on it I feel really foolish for what happened to me.
I was going to this doctor who must have been 100 years old. The exam room was very large maybe 30x20. Against one of the walls was an exam table and along another was the doctor's desk with a chair next to it. I was extremely nervous becuase it had been years since I have had a complete physical and this was a new doctor to me. We found him becuase my mother's friend was his receptionsit.
Anyway, it started out with me sitting in the chair next to his desk. I was still fully clothed. He asked all the health history questions then asked my to take my shirt off. He then did all the normal doctor stuff like BP, Eyes, Ears, Throat, Heart lungs, etc.
So far so good, but then here is the part where I started to feel like an idiot. He asked me to stand up and drop my pants. Of course being a good boy I stood up and started to unbutton my jeans. As I was pulling my jeans down the doctor mentioned he was going to check for any hernias. I mentioned that I had a hernia repair as a baby at which time he replied "Oh" then proceeded to make additional notes in my chart. I stood there with my jeans around my knees my briefs still on while it must have taken this senile old doctor 5 minutes to write down that I had a hernia. He asked me questions like, which side, how old was I, was it strangulated, etc. while I standing next to his desk with my pants around my knees. He finally finished writting then turned to me and told me to pull the rest of "this" down pointing to my briefs at which point I complied. Again he did the normal doctor this poking around, asking me to turn my head and cough, etc.
He then stood up and started walking over to where the exam table was. He motioned for me to come over to the table. What I did was waddle over to him with my pants still around my knees causing them to fall to my ankles. He then had me hop up on the table and lie down. He poked at my abdomen for a few seconds then told me to get up and get dressed and that I was perfectly healthy.
As I think back at it now, I felt really foolish walking around the office with my pants down like that. I wonder if the doctor expected me to pull my pants back up before walking over, but he never told me to and I was taught to do what the doctor tells you to. Also, the exam was really very superficial in some was. He never drew blood or asked for a uring sample even though the form from my college had boxes for those items.
Has anyone ever had a similar experience where they felt they did something foolish like that thinking they were doing what the doctor wanted them to? For example recently I was given a gown for a physical, but I put it on backwards from what the doctor expected. He actually laughed at me when he came in.
