Hi Everyone,
Below is an article I came across when searching on Google for "what does enemas till clear mean". It's an interesting medical research article from Finland and is easy to understand, too. It is about the number of plain tap water enemas needed to clean out the colon so it is suitable for producing a good quality double-contrast barium enema.
"THE CLEANSING ENEMA"
How many for a good quality double-contrast enema?

There was some other bowel preparation used for two days beforehand, but on the morning ot the barium enema the study group of patients who were to receive enemas were given tap-water enemas of 1.75 litres (volume) ‘till clear’ on the morning of the examination.
(mean 4.4 enemas. range 1-11), given by experienced nurses.
NOTES:
1.75 Litres = 1.85 quarts
The mean or average number of enemas given to a patient was 4.4 enemas. The range of the number of enemas given to an individual patient was from 1 enema to 11 enemas, and the enemas were given by experienced nurses. I am assuming they mean experienced nurses who are also experienced in giving enemas. The article did not say what kind of enema equipment was used to give the patients their enemas, unfortunately.
I will leave each of you to go to the web link and read the conclusions they drew from this study.
Oh how I wish I had been one of the patients on the receiving end of 11 enemas from a nurse followed by a barium enema, too. That I would like I am sure! And maybe a few more enemas to wash that barium out afterward, too.
