Funny how nobody is accusing the man. Where is responsibility these days? Where are those consequences for our actions that we simply accept as a fact of our own mistakes as opposed to trying to pawn them off onto others? Why is it so damn difficult for people to admit when they screwed up?
A senile old guff set himself on fire. It wasn't the diaper company, it wasn't the staff of the rest home-it was the old man. Let's put it another way, if the rest home refused to allow the man to smoke, even while attended to, there would be cries of going against his rights as a human being, to do as he pleased. Well, he did just that it would appear.
Those that would argue that he was not cognizant enough to be alone during the act of seem to neglect the fact that he sought out, located and swiped his cigarettes from some containment. He shambled about knowing full well his own intent as demonstrated by where he wound up and what he chose to do. Ultimately, because he wasn't terribly careful, he set himself ablaze. Sure, you can attempt to blame the staff, but as we all know with the current economy there was unlikely to be close to enough staff to have a one on one capability, i.e., they simply couldn't watch him every second of every moment of every day. He specifically chose one of those moments to wander off and whamo-now he's dead.
It's a sad damned world that any idiot who falls down the stairs can sue the man who installed them or the building they were situated in, where people dumping hot food and beverages into their laps can receive huge settlements, where old men who sneak off in the night to smoke alone will set themselves ablaze and that their respective families will be so overcome by grief that they will sue, sue, sue anyone and everyone...
Yup, that'll bring him back.
