How are you dressed (or undressed) for the exam?

For my gynaecology exam, I'm completely naked but wearing a paper gown.

When it's just the GP, I tend to keep my tops on. The first time a GP looked at my vagina, I went in jeans as I wasn't expecting it. I took my jeans off but left my pants and top on. He ended up sliding my pants down to my ankles.

Ever since, I visit my GP in a dress so that I can just pull the dress up. I usually let him/her pull my pants down or open to take a look.

Just this past week I had my annual physical with my female doctor. The nurse gave me a fabric gown and a sheet. I took off all my clothes and put the gown on with the opening in the front. After the exam, we were talking. She said after we had finished talking, she'd leave, I could change, get my notes from the nurse and be on my way. I had things to do, and after we'd been talking for a bit, said to her that we were both girls and would she mind if I'd change in front of her. I did, we finished talking and I went on my way.

Unfortunately, I don't have a male doctor. That would have been fun!

Here usually to gyno exam was necessary to being undress waist down (excess socks). We hasn't gowns, so if you wasn't put longer blouse you're half naked.

Breast checkup are other exam

I’m usually in full body gown. I recently seen new obgyn, and they had me keep my shirt on and unbuckle bra and sit on table without panties. But, they gave me a sheet to place on top of my lap.

For my wife, she is completely naked from the beginning to the end of the exam. No sheets or aprons!

During an exam I am given a paper gown that doesn't cover much

I’m asked to undress before the doctor enters the room; I just have to remove by bottoms and place a paper sheet over my waist and legs.

Just remove from waist down and cover with the towel provided 😃

I get my pelvic exams from my primary care doctor, so that means I get them as part of my annual check-up. For that reason, I am naked under an exam gown, with a drape over my lap and legs. This lets him check the top parts of me without uncovering the bottom parts, and vice-versa.

I had a gynecological exam today for pelvic pain, and the male doctor (an old-school, authoritarian type, mid 60s) asked me to undress from the waist down, allowed me to keep my top on, but undo my bra. He first lifted my shirt and bra himself to examine my breasts, while my pelvic area was only covered with a very thin and small paper sheet. Then he covered my chest and moved on to an extremely thorough (and painful pelvic) exam. I have never been as exposed as I was today. It was a mix of arousal and sheer embarrassment.

For a full physical, my wife is usually naked under a cloth gown, with a nurse present. The male doctor we have seen for years does not even see her until she has removed her clothes (Except socks) and is covered with both the gown and a sheet over her lap.

It is different when she sees him for a cold, sore throat or stomach issue, because a nurse may or may not be in there. He has had her lift her blouse and undo her bra for auscultation, and once proceeded to do a breast exam. At one appointment for a stomach issue, he had her skirt up and her panties down to her pubic mound palpating and auscultating when he decided to do a pelvic. He told her to leave her skirt on and left the room while she removed her panties. He came back in with a nurse to complete the exam, which she described as very thorough in both the vaginal and rectal areas.

Update. So, i have change my gyno to other one. And i've full exam, totally naked. He was very accurate in breast exam and after that with gyno one.

I’ve witnessed gynecology exam were they’ve ask to take everything off and provided a paper gown.

And, I’ve witnessed a no gown exam except for a sheet. The doctor performed a breast, pelvic and rectal exam on that specific exam.

I love it when the nurse says the words.. “take everything off“. The nurse always then turns to me, I’m just sitting there witnessing the experience; the nurse gives me “the look” because she knows I’m going to witness the exam~I would love to give the nurse an exam.

For the pelvic plus ultrasound I’m undressed from the waist down with a drape across my lap. For the full exam it’s completely naked under what they call a gown which is really much more like a thin strip of fabric with a head hole in the middle (it’s very revealing, open on both sides, does nothing for modesty or warmth).

At my gyno exams I had to undress from waist down. I never received a gown.

I think there are gowns usual in Germany.

Most times nude waiste down but i have gotten a gown in hospitales.

I’ve only had a few gyno exams, all with the same doctor. I’ve been initially asked to undress to bra, panties, and socks and put on a gown. The bra is removed for the breast exam, and the panties removed for the pelvic exam. Then I’m allowed to redress.

I doubt if I could count on one hand the amount of times I have been offered a gown. At my physician I am naked from the waist down. And on my many trips for exams in hospital I am naked.

My current gynecologist’s office uses full-body disposable paper gowns. I am fully naked underneath. The nurse has always handed me the gown and left the room for several minutes, allowing plenty of time to change.

At my gynecologist office they provide a cloth gown and cloth drape. After the nurse checks vitals they leave the gown and drape laying on the exam table and give the instructions to change into the gown and the dr will be in shortly. The gowns they use are plenty big and the cloth is definitely more comfortable than the paper gowns.

Many different answers here, but the one that seems more consistent than others is that when there is a gown, in the US at least, it is most likely paper these days. Cloth gowns are I guess just too expensive... and too expensive to keep washing. Paper is the new norm I guess.

Yes, absolutely normal in Germany.

I think it’s best as a Doctor to give a patient many different experiences. Sometimes requiring undressing to underwear, inc a gown or not. Sometimes just removing, or requiring the removal of by the patient, different items of clothing as required at various points of the examination. Sometimes a green medical sheet will be placed over an area that’s been examined before the patient is exposed in another area. Other times the patient is made more and more undressed and no attempt at all will be made to cover them in any way. Inevitably the patient is completely naked from head to toe pretty quickly, many patients actually enjoy this feeling the most. Totally naked, completely undressed, every item of clothing removed in preparation for a complete examination by the Doctor. The now naked patient’s knees gently bent, spread apart and positioned into the gynaecological examination stirrups. 3 Doctors unexpectedly enter the examination room, followed by 4 trainee Nurses, 1 male and 3 female.

How is your real gynecologist doing with undressing during the preventive check-up? Do you have to take off your clothes at lower body first and put on again before the breast exam? Or do you take off your clothes completely and get a gown?

I'm already changed when the doctor comes in. I'm completely undressed and in a paper exam gown.
