My girlfriend wears over the knee socks or thigh-highs for her pelvic exams quite often, especially when she goes before work. She is requested to take off all of her clothes except the legwear.

My wife's best friend recently had her IUD replaced and went to her gynecologist for the follow up exam. She told my wife about it, and my wife made sure to get all the details she could!

She told my wife her gyn seemed rushed, which made sense since they were running late with her appointment by almost 45 minutes. She had just come from work, and was wearing her office attire, which consisted of a red skirt suit that day, with a knee length pencil skirt and beige pantyhose. She told my wife that she was expecting to have to undress from the waist down, but the nurse instructed her to just lift up her skirt to her waist and remove her pantyhose and panties from one leg, and sit up on the table, and handed her a small paper drape for her lap. She complied and not even a minute after she sat up on the table, the gyn knocked on the door and entered the exam room. After a brief question and answer session about how she was doing with the new IUD, she was told to lie back and place her feet in the stirrups. She told my wife that it was awkward lying there with her skirt hitched up around her waist, and her pantyhose and panties dangling from her right knee while her feet were in the stirrups! Especially since she wasn't wearing modest panties that day. She told my wife that she was wearing a pair of red satin thong panties. After a very brief speculum exam, which the gyn opened for a few seconds without even locking open the bills, and a brief bimanual exam, her gyn told her all checked out well and she can get dressed. With that her female gyn left.

She told my wife that she has never been examined like that before, and figured that it was done that way to expedite her in and out to try and get back on schedule. It didn't really bother her, but she certainly wasn't expecting an upskirt exam with her pantyhose and panties dangling from her knee!
