My wife, bless her soul, had to travel to upstate Ohio in between Columbus and Cleveland with a brother and sister for her older sister's funeral a couple of weeks ago. She really does not travel well and usually becomes very constipated as a result. Well, this was this trip was no different. She called me and said she felt absolutely awful. At that point, she was more than 400 miles from home. I knew she needed help and she did too!
But, I also knew, for a fact, that she would not take a bag enema. So, I went shopping, in a neighboring town, visiting numerous chain and mom and pop drug stores looking for a small bulb syringe. I just knew that if I found one I could warm some olive oil and get her to let me inject some slowly into her rectum. I just knew that if I did it just right, it would not only relieve her problem, but also be quite soothing in the process and possibly change her, open, dislike for enemas of any kind.
Well, as you might guess, I found none. As a result, I decided to go to the infant isle of Wal-Mart and see if that store had small "nose sucker" syringe that I could substitute for a small bulb enema. Well, I found one and put it into my shopping cart. I, then, went to the drug department and found a Wal Mart brand of "Fleet" enemas and put that into my cart as well. I, personally, totally dislike "Fleet" enemas of any kind. They burn and cause cramps, etc., which was something I did not want my wife to experience.
Meanwhile, her younger sister, who is a nurse got her some glycerin suppositories and some Dulcolax laxative tablets. I guess you know which of the four options she chose to use when she got home. The small nasal sucker type syringe and the Equate brand twin pack enemas still sit in the bathroom cabinet. A missed opportunity, I must say....Maybe another chance will come... I hope so.... But, maybe not..... Anyway, I'll just keep on taking and enjoying my enemas much to my wife's dismay.
