What do you suggest...plain water or a little more?

For a newbie--water, PLAIN FREAKIN' WATER no question about it.

See how your body reacts before trying more exotic recipes, especially those that will have several return trips to the toilet.

Your first several enemas should be Warm water W/1 teaspoon of sea salt per quart.

This will give you time to learn how your body reacts to enemas.

I agree, warm water with a teaspoonful of salt then, when you are used to this you can start enjoying the added boost of a little liquid soap, I suggest a teaspoonful of Dr Bronners peppermint soap solution per quart. Take it slowly lying down. stop the flow whenever you feel cramping. massage the abdomen till the cramps passoff then slowly restart and try to take a little more. when you are full or the bag is empty, tryy to old the solution for ten minutes. ( it will feel like hours!)

I'd say water only... and try to regulate the temp as best as possible. That's what I started with.

Plain old water for me

I started with plain old water then started to add soap which I really enjoy. The mild cramping is enjoyable and offers a bit more of a challenge to retain for any length of time. Recently, I purchased a 4 oz. bottle of pure glycerin. I have a rather large hypodermic syringe that I fitted with a nozzle. I drew the glycerin into the syringe and injected it prior to a quart and a half of warm water. Wow, what a clean out. It was a lot of fun for me. Your mileage may vary.

I would say plain warm water till you find out how you are going to react.

I use seasalt for most of my enemas,it is mild and doesn't give you feelings to expel for a long time!

Considering I am new to all of this I don't really know any good recipes. Any ideas on a good recipe that is not too intense? The enemas I receive are not punishment, they are usually just for fun before sex so please do not reccomend something that will cause a lot of discomfort or pain. Thanks!

Some people are more sensitive to enema recipes that change the water's pH+ to acid or alkaline. Even a teaspoon of soap will make water alkaline and it mildly irritates the colon. Alternative health practitioners recommend squeezing a lemon into enema water to make it slightly acidic as an irritant. You'll find different strengths from different sources and want to experiment conservatively.

I would try plain water or camille tea. That shouldn't cause too much cramping.

I've only done water enemas, but now i'm looking to try a bit more. any suggestions?? something mild i guess not going overboard.

Warm Water + J&J baby shampoo !

Camomile tea is fine for a gentle clean out. Always add some salt or soda (about 1 teaspoon/qt) as plain water can alter the electrolitical balance of your body, in particular if you plan for water retention.

I've been doing the warm water and J&J Baby shampoo for quite a while now and it actually works quite well, and very mild. Doesn't give you quite the "kick" of Castile soap however. If you like the full feeling, along with the feeling of needing to expel the enema, Castile soap gives you this feeling much stronger that J&J Baby Shampoo.

Saltwater, using ab bit less than 1 teaspoon per quart of water is very gentle.

I've been reading the forums now for a couple of weeks, and thought I would write my first post.

After reading all through the enema forum, and being that I quite enjoy anal play, I'd like to give enema's a try. Though I'm not so sure how to go about an introductory enema? I've only had one once, just before a sigmoidoscopy, and it was not very enjoyable, that could be because of the circumstance under which it was performed (being starved after midnight, nervousness/anxiety about the procedure, etc).

I'm really curious as to what the best 'starter' enema should be, I've read up on so many different options and choices, soap suds, tap water, baking soda, salt, oil, etc etc etc. I quite like the feeling of being full with an anal plug and would like to explore the world of enemas a bit, but would like a nice slow introduction so as to not be scared away.

Any suggestions on the best way to start out would be greatly appreciated.

If you're very inexperienced, a good starter is just a small tap water or saline enema. A pint or two shouldn't be too difficult to administer and even retain for awhile. I am very experienced and enjoy a good soapy enema for starters. I then follow up with a couple of large volume or 2 qt enemas to assure a good cleanse. In order to avoid premature cramping and expulsion of a soapy enema, I will usually take a pint or two of tap water before adding the soapy solution. This permits me to take a larger volume soapsuds enema that is very tolerable and purgative. Good luck!

Welcome to the forum tsmith. Glad you're enjoying reading the threads. This question is covered in other threads, but to make it easy for you (and me, not having to find those threads), I'll tell you to start with a simple one of either plain water or water with salt (or baking soda) added. The water needs to be warm to the touch - like on your wrist - enough to feel the warmth but not be hot. If you have a thermometer, go with 100-105ish F. Much hotter than that and you can hurt yourself. Add 1 tsp of salt per quart you take. You can measure out the salt in grams, but for those of us in the US, teaspoon is faster. Don't take more than 2 quarts to start. And it's okay if you can't take 2. Take what feels comfortable. It's not a contest. Hold for a few minutes - what's comfortable to you. Could be only a couple or maybe 5 or as much as 15. Don't go for more than 15 on your first try.

As Suzy said, plain water is the best bet for a beginner. Soap can cause cramps, which might well turn a beginner off. An enema works by stretching the gut, stimulating it to contract. Many of the "additives" are irritants that can produce strong contractions soon after infusion. Stick to plain water initially, then begin to explore other recepies.

I have done plain water cold, warm, hot and tried slow and fast. My favorite plai water is high hot and fast. If I have already done clean outs I can get in 2 qts. Have tried all kinds of liquids. Slow fill an refill I an get in 2 bags. That takes real concentration. I have done coffee. Milk and molasses really is hard makes bad cramps. Can get in 2 qts by the time I am full I have to sit on something hard covered with a towel. I never sit on the toilet unless I am ready to expel.

Right now I am holding 2 qt a of orange and grapefruit juices and will do 2 clear water cool and the other high hot and fast. I am following this with a 3 qt enema with a colon snake.

1 Qt Plain water with 1 tsp baking soda and you'll have a nice relaxing first enema. Be sure to bleed the hose properly.

When I started out, I used just plain water.

Start with soapsuds in WARM, not hot water. Use Simms position, and stay in it until you can't Retain 15 minutes if possible. If not as long as possible.Put two quarts in the bag and try to take it all if you can!! If you can't just take as much as you can hold it as long as you can.

Personally I would recommend plain warm water with a tablespoon per quart of baking soda. It makes for a very mild solution that is easy to take and retain.

I have only ever used just plain warm water and had good results. After reading the comments here I am looking forward to trying a soapy enama.
