To Stuffer:
Start with a fresh, newly opened bar of Ivory Soap.
Prepare the water in a wide mouth, sealable container several days in advance. Shake it up a few times during those days. Best if the soapsuds is a little syrup like.
If you are doing a total cleanout of your system you want to take the bisacodyl tablets about two hours before you start. When the appointed time comes, fast for a MINIMUM of 8 hours. I recommend 12 or more. That way the stomach upset is not anything you can't live with.
To measure the Epsom Salt. Start with ONE TABLESPOON. Get on the scale. Add 1 TEASPOON for every 20 pounds that you weigh.
I've always used a close-top Hot Water Bottle style bag, because it makes the mixing easier. you could use an open-top bag, but if you do, best to do the mixing in a pitcher. Pour that in a clean, dry enema bag first. A funnel helps but is not strictly necessary. Then fill the bag approximately half full with the soapsuds solution. Then top it off with HOT water. Attach the hose and stopper with the valve closed. I always get the hose filled with water before I start. That way I don't have to worry about the valve being open. Once the bag is FULL, and the hose is on good so it can't leak, I hold it by the hook, and carry it into the bedroom. that way it gets turned over at least once. I let it lie on the bed for a few minutes while I strip to by bra and dorm shirt or knee-length nightgown, I also make sure that the bed and the room are prepped. I then go and pee, so that the pressure in my lower abdomen comes ONLY from the enema. Set up the bathroom with the lid up and the seat down.
If I am going to do any suppositories, I take them at this point. The bed needs two pillows, both covered with towels, one where the knees will be, and one just in front of it for the chest. Since I'm female, I make sure the knee pillow is a little higher than the chest pillow. Males don't need to do this. Also, near where my head is going to be, I keep an old worn out, but clean washcloth or hand towel within easy reach. I can use it as a bite rag, or a squeeze rag if things get rough. I attach the nozzle. I then break the seal on the Fleet Bisacodyl enema, and get rid of the box. I hang the bag so that it is at the right height to flow at the rate of about a quart per minute on a full bowel. Typically about 3 feet above where my rectum will be when I'm in knee-chest position. I then get into knee-chest position. The knees should be 12-18 inches apart, depending on how long your hips are. I make sure the hose is where I can reach it from the knee-chest position I then shake up the Fleet Bisacodyl mini enema. I also feel the bottom of the bag and make sure the Epsom Salt has fully dissolved , Usually no problem, but just making sure. I get onto the bed, and get into the knee-chest position, making sure both knees and chest are on the pillows, and my head is on the mattress in front of the pillows. I make sure I can read the clock without my glasses. At that point, I quickly inject the bisacodyl mini enema and cast the bottle aside. I then insert the nozzle and make sure I have it in so that it won't slip out. I find that, for the first enema it is better NOT to use any lubricant, because the rectum's natural mucous membrane is still intact. That is almost always enough lubrication for that first round. the nozzle I use is a 3-inch long flared nozzle with about a half-inch flare at the back. I keep my hands away from my tummy. It is important to concentrate on retaining the enema. No texting!. Best setting for the cell phone is off.
I then take a couple of minutes to relax, and make sure I am as ready mentally as physically. It helps to take several deep as you can deep breaths.
Then breathe in, open the valve, breathe out, and breathe as normally as you can. The first part of the injection should feel pretty much like every other bag enema you ever had. Any headache or dry mouth means you used too much Epsom Salt. Same as any other enema. Take as much as you can, hold it as long as you can(My goal is 15 minutes. I almost always make that) and stay in position until you have to run.
Once the bag is flat ( A little hard to see from the knee-chest position) I close the valve. One of the big differences in my experience between a flared and a straight nozzle is that with a straight nozzle I am better off removing it once the bag is flat, whereas a flared nozzle, I'm better off leaving it in. A flared nozzle seems to have a positive impact on retention whereas a straight nozzle seems to negatively impact retention. At that point, I am on the roller coaster. While no two enemas are ever exactly alike, generally I get the first wave, fairly early. I make sure to leave it in and let that Epsom Salt do it's work. Most of the time, the first couple of waves won't be all that strong. They will get stronger as you retain longer. The lull between waves will start to shorten up. There will come a point where the "down" side of the cycles won't go all the way down. There is a slight urge all the time.
Not so different from any other enema. I will usually be able to hear the water move farther back in my bowels. Unlike a lot of people, I don't use tummy massage, unless I am in real danger of not making 15 minutes. Often I DO have to do the slow, deep breathing to get the wave down. Having that bite or twist rag where you can go to it without thinking also helps.
When to time comes, walk fast to the toilet. Better off not running, but use your own judgement. I find it helps to lean forward and put my arms up over my head, but whatever has worked for you in other types of enemas. Once on the toilet, relax, and let it come out at it's own pace. You will get one loose watery movement instantly, and a number of similar movements over the next 20 minutes or so. It is going to take about 20 minutes to get the whole enema passed. The worst time is between the first and second expulsions. There may be nausea. Keep an empty trashcan or dishpan within reach in case it DOES come out both sides at once. For me it just doesn't because I do this on an empty stomach. A few times it has felt like it to the point of leaning forward and holding the trashcan up to my face, and not happened. That's rare, but if you've never had Epsom Salt before you can't rule it out.
Once you are sure the enema is out, you need to lay or sit around doing basically nothing for at least half an hour, more often 40 minutes to an hour. Then you can take a soapsuds enema. No more Epsom Salt! You've had enough!! Not easy on the kidneys!! OK to drink some Gatorade or Powerade, or Pedialyte, but don't overdo it. Once you have done what you are going to do with the soapsuds enemas, then wait until you feel OK before you try to eat again. Eat what you think you can handle! Avoid spicy food for at least 24 hours and watch the quantities. More Gatorade is a good idea, You WILL get a number of watery movements over the next 8 hours or so, I do advise not only staying home, but not getting too many steps from the toilet.
