First time hearing your heart?

I was around 6 years old, and figured out that I could use an air hose from my mom’s hair dryer as a makeshift stethoscope. 🤣🤣

A pretty standard experience I think. 😂 One of the toy doctor’s kits as a very little girl! First time using a real stethoscope was in my second grade health class though! We were learning about the heart and had a health lesson where we would listen to our hearts before and after exercise!

First time I listened was when the doctor asked me if I wanted to listen to myself during an exam when Inwas 5/6 and he let me listen to my heart, breathing and tummy sounds.

I remember the scenario vaguely but not the actual hearing it! I know I was four and I remember chasing a girl in my class around with a stethoscope because I wanted to hear her heartbeat, but I know I must have used it then. I didn't properly have my cardiophile awakening until I was 15, so the 11 years in that gap is a little bland!

The first time I heard my heart was after I was electrocuted. It stopped. Everything was so clear around me. I was looking around and hearing everything. Then I noticed it had stopped, I thought "That's not good". Everything started going black at the "ood" part of the good. I had an adrenaline burst and it restarted my heart. BOOM Boom what a noise it made in my ears. I felt my blood surging. Everything switched back on. The noise it makes in the background is incredibly loud, When it is working it is white noise.

I first heard my own heartbeat using a real stethoscope when I was 3-4 years old. I was playing with it a lot at that age examining all my stuffed animals. Also used to carry it with me to my appointments with the pediatrician.

I can't remember at what age I first heard my heart beating, probably quite young when still in grade school I would guess.

In any case, I found it totally underwhelming and no big deal at all. Nothing about it piqued my interest. It was just some rhythmic thumping that meant nothing special to me.

Of course I knew if and when it stopped I'd die, but actually when you think about it, that really was not a comforting thought.
