What is a Higgins pump?

Question, I would like yo know what a Higgins Pump is. Maybe it's new to mE, or maybe I got one and just didn't know what it was called.

Could use some help.

A Higginson pump is a combination of a bulb, 2 one-way valves and some tubing. The goal of the tool is to pump enema solution from a basin or a bag rather than just rely on gravity. There is also an "on-line" Higginson pump. It is attached to the hose, somewhere in the middle. Made of rubber, usually red or black. As the ENEMA is in progress, the "Giver" squeezes the bulb every ten or fifteen seconds, sending a gush of water out of the nozzle that splashes water onto the walls of your rectum, creating an amazing sensation! It often causes the penis or clitoris to jump, pushing them to the brink of an orgasm. Whoever designed it had a really nasty mind! It makes for a VERY stimulating ENEMA, especially if the water is cold!! I've experienced it from several Dommes, on many occasions (both on my knees and in stirrups).... and it is intense!! Gives them a thrill as well! It really does the trick! I highly recommend it!

The item you refer to is a "Higginson Syringe" and were far more common many years/decades ago. Those available today are knockoffs or replicas of the originals.

They were quite practical and avoided the typical setup using a bag or can. The syringe was much easier to carry in a nurse's or doctor's bag as they travelled to call on patients.

A few manufacturers of fountain syringes marketed an inline version that could accelerate the typical gravity flow.

Whereas in the “Golden Age” the most common enema equipment to be found in the American home was the rubber bag in Britain invariably it would be the Higginson syringe.

My first experience of receiving enemas as a child were from the District Nurse with her trusty Higginson which fitted easily into her bag together with the rubber sheet she brought along.

It was not until I was in my teens that the memories of these childhood enemas returned after seeing a Higginson in the window of a chemist’s (pharmacy).

Though still available the current versions are poor examples compared with what was available forty years ago. Made of stout shiny rubber with brass valves and in some cases with detachable bulb section for cleaning. You can still find examples of these on ebay etc. but unfortunately over the years they have deteriorated beyond use.
