How did your mom act when she was in the exam room with you?

Was she curious? Bored? Uncomfortable? Embarrassed? Amused? Totally nonchalant?

Did she watch the whole time, or did she occasionally look away? Was she genuinely interested, or just sort of there?

My mom acted interested the whole time, and she pretty much talked non-stop to the doctor while he was examining me.

Me being naked never bothered her and she stayed for the entire examination, focusing on whatever part of my body the doctor was examining.

My mother wanted as little to do with being in the exam room as possible. She made me even more uncomfortable by being there. If anything inappropriate was going to actually happen to me in the exam room, she would have allowed to happen without question anyway. From age four and on, I wished she would’ve just stayed out in the waiting lobby.

Both parents were present during my physicals and sick visits at ages 11, 12 and 13. The previous years don't really matter because I was in foster care so you went to whatever doctor was available with whoever was available. I had asthma and low weight and should have been seeing a doctor more frequently. When you are in the system you are nothing but an inventory number in a vast warehouse of other damaged products. That kind of thinking is a hindrance to proper growth and development in a child.

My parents were attentive and concerned about my health and well being. (They adopted me at age 14 ) I was terrified of a doctor's exam room due to some previous bad experiences. The three of them (mom, dad and my doctor) were somehow able to easily convince me to trust them and not be afraid of being examined or what not. My mom is a RN so having her present was a big advantage.

I didn't want my mom in the exam room with me either, and it was because of her own attitude towards nudity. Her discomfort became MY discomfort. I was incredibly self-conscious about my body, because of my folks.

For context- my mom was the sort of woman who would balk and complain about having to undress in front of her OWN doctor. She sarcastically referred to it as "giving the doc a strip show". She double or even triple layered the curtains in our house to ensure that not even her faint shadow or outline could be seen by any of our neighbors. She viewed nudist colonies as morally questionable at best, and tacky, vulgar, and sinful at worst.

That was just my mom. My dad was a whole other story.

It was usually either both of my parents (especially for actual physicals, as opposed to be sick or hurt) or my dad. But the times it was just my mom, she tended to be a mix of nonchalant and curious. Her curiosity was a little annoying, but she masked that with humor. I think it depended on the doctor. There was one doctor at a clinic we went to sometimes who my mom had an obvious crush on and she was not very good about concealing it.

Reading some of these replies, I feel pretty fortunate for my experiences with this specific subject.

As for my own mom- I have no doubt that my mom loved me with all her heart. Even so, between her personal bodily hangups ( which she unfortunately imprinted on me ) and her own chronic health problems, we never had anything quite like THAT level of closeness and trust.

That sounds awkward and intimidating as hell. Did she make the doctor uncomfortable as well?

Curious, watched the whole time, and was genuinely interested. If my puberty had been delayed even another six months, she'd have had to put me on hormones, so she and the doctor conferred the whole time he examined me.

Amused and teasing. A little background, my mother and I had a strained relationship and so when she came into the exam room with myself and my younger brother ,8 years younger than me, for the first time my brother and I were 5 and 13 respectively. As we drove to the practice my mother casually mentioned that the doctor was a lady, for the whole day I knew I was going to be getting undressed but the doctor's gender was not something I considered. While I was waiting room I realized that I was going to be taking off clothes, the question was how much. So we were called back into the exam room and my mom asked if we could leave our coats in the waiting room, the nurse said okay and as she took us back she joked that 'your sons are only going to be needing their undies' which my mom laughed at. Once we were led into the exam room the nurse changed the paper on the exam table as she said 'have them strip down to their underpants',while I was unbuttoning my shirt my mom had already undressed my brother down to his briefs. I finally removed my jeans and both my brother and I were just in our Fruit Of The Looms. On my way to the scale I caught sight of myself clad only in my underpants and got quite embarrassed. All the women were clothed and giving orders while my brother and I were close to naked. Once the nurse took our weight, height and BP she left the room and my mother said 'I had no idea you boys were going to be doing a striptease' relishing our utter shyness in being very nearly nude. 'I am holding all your clothing, maybe you should just get dressed at home' She loved teasing us about being undressed. She watched each of us looking over the pediatrician's shoulder ,even when my briefs were pulled down.

Mom was primarily responsible for arranging and transporting me to my physicals overall. My dad came to 2 as I became a teen but when 14 I went in all alone. Mom saw my exams thru age 12ish and saw all of it including all embarrassing moments. She seemed to delight early on when I would enter the exam room and ask the nurse, "Do you want him to fully undress?" I would cringe as I got familiar with that meant! Bu the time I turned 10, it was very obvious that it meant strip completely or if it was a sympathetic nurse, just to your briefs, but then they would come down and later off. RTs were routinely taken at each exam. Doing so as I started to become pubescent meant having an erection! By 12 I was getting them at night and having more frequent wet dreams as I entered my teen years. It was a given that an erection would take place during the RT portion of my exam. Mom seemed to take it in stride as if it meant nothing. Surely for her it was nothing of any consequence but likely caused her to feel embarrassed when I couldn't control having my erections.

I don't remember my mom being overly interested or watching closely what was going on during the exam. She mostly sat in the chair and listened to what the doctor would say, telling her about what he was finding. The doctor would usually have me facing away from where my mom was sitting during parts of the exam. So it seemed like she was paying attention but wasn't extremely involved.

My Mom went into the exam room with me from elementary school until about 4th grade. From what I remember she was just listening to what the Doctor had to say. My parents both knew the Doc/Nurse at the practice as they were husband and wife. My Dad never took any of my siblings or myself to the Doctor. From the 5th grade on, I went to the appointments by myself.

I never looked at her. She was silent, sitting in a chair. Hated her being there.

As a child, my mother was present at all of my exams for my premature puberty. This was every 2 months from age 7 - 16 and was highly embarrassing, as she was sat only a couple of feet away from me with full view of everything that happened - including the inevitable rock hard erection and leaking of pre-cum. As I was only 7 when I was diagnosed with early puberty, I didn't really understand what was happening to me & all the doctor ever said to me was "your growing up early". I never got any additional explanation as to what was happening to me, even when my erections were causing me pain & the first time I ejaculated and thought something was wrong with me 😢. Mum seemed to look very excited but also shocked & surprised. Mum did a few times "tease" me about really being her "big boy" (dad wasn't in out lives). Looking back, i'm quite surprised the doctor didn't even give me a basic sex education & mum certainly didn't.

My mother often accompanied me to the doctor or paediatrician and attended the genital tests.

Around the age of 11/12 it was embarrassing for me because I had reached puberty. The last time she accompanied me to the doctor's, I must have been about 14, and the doctor pulled my pants down to mid-thigh to check that the testicles were not palpated and that they were unhooded. My mother was only a few metres away and I could see that she hadn't lost any of the "show".

My mom and brother were in the room for most of my physicals growing up. Most of the time she would be talking with the pediatrician while he did the exam. I remember feeling at least a little awkward most of the time just because of the nature of being examined. And I could always feel the eyes of my mother and brother on me. Anytime I would look over to them she would already have her eyes on me. She didn’t look enthused or anything but she was watching. As I got older I only felt more uncomfortable having an audience (as if the doctor wasn’t enough), and I definitely had a few erections through the years. She didn’t seem to care but I think my brother got a kick out of it. As for interest, she was always talking, like I said and answering questions even if they were directed towards me.

It was the same with me, my mom and the doctor in almost constant dialogue about me but not including me, especially when I was younger.

Yeah, me and my brother usually had physicals at the same time. He’s a couple years younger than me.

My mom came in with me until I was 18. She would sit on the chair, chatting with the nurse or doctor and used to ask a lot of questions.

My mom I think was curious at first. Then, it turned to uncomfortable for her. She look away a lot. I think she was more just sitting there for support. I'm not saying she never looked at me. I think she just wanted to see how big I was and that was it.

Mom always acted and talked to the doctor like i'm a little boy. No matter how old i where. Maybe it was because they where and still are friends.
