Taking Photos during an exam or medical procedure

Here's a question that occurred to me while going through photos of my late wife.

How many members have taken photos during an examination or medical procedure? And by this i mean with permission or knowledge of the attending doctor/nurse.

I know some like to take surreptitious or sneak photos of a wife or girlfriends gyn exam or such, without anyone knowing. But how many have done so openly? Btw: I'd like to exclude birthing photos. That is a whole different ballgame when it comes to taking medical photos of people you know.

In my case, my wife once got caught between two fighting cats and had a really long and bad gash cut in her lower leg. It was bleeding profusely and while the doc was stitching her up, I took a number of photos of her bloody leg and the stitching. Documenting her war wounds in the Cat Wars so to speak.

What have other members done in the way of photography in the open?
