Anybody who can confirm athletes need a cardiovascular exam every year?

One of my very best friend (he is a running track in college) told me that athletes, especially those who play football, soccer, volleyball, swim, or run track, had to go through cardiovascular exam every year. He said EKG, echography, and a stress test were included.

He told me that he once accidentally bump into a female teammate being examined by the team doctor. He said that she was only wearing a tight short spandex and fully naked the waist above. She was laying on the exam table with electrodes attached and the doctor was moving around an echo probe on her chest.

Does anybody know what the college sport physical is like now? My buddy was very drunk when he told me this

I can't confirm what your friend told you because I wasn't there. However, it does read, to me, as a story with little basis in reality told by a drunk college student. But, as I said, I wan't there so it could be completely true.

College athletes back in the 70's that I knew, football players, wrestlers, swimmers and gymnasts - were not required to get annual cardiovascular checks like that. We (at least those I knew well) just got a release from our doctor.

Your question is vague. To give you a broad based answer that would be yes. If you participate in athletics as a youth during school years a physical exam with an emphasis on the cardiovascular system is the norm.
