Does anyone like or collect old porn movies? I mean anything before 1985? I have a good collection and watch occasionally to remind myself how good and authentic porn actors were before Hollywood made porn mainstream. Real men and women with regular bodies, no collagen or silicone fake boobs and muscles, most of them hairy and not pretending to have the largest tools in the world (John Holmes is the exception). Even the music that often covered the voices had an appeal not found in modern theatrical "all out" productions. My favorite is The Opening of Misty Bethoven. I am in the midst of cleaning out an old house that an Aunt and Uncle lived in. They raised three children in that house to include my cousin who is now about 63 years old. Under some boards in the attic, I found several VHS tapes that were labeled as cartoons. Since these tapes had obviously been “hidden”, I set them aside and took two home with me to verify what I had thought about them containing porn. When I finally found a VHS player that worked, I found that the tapes contained vintage 70s style, big hair, thick bush, grainy porn. The two tapes that I brought home appeared to contain 4 different movies on each tape recorded on the slowest speed to allow for more video on the tape. I am looking forward to finding time to do than more than fast forwarding through them to see if there are any gems recorded on those tapes. They are certainly not today’s glorious 4K digital recordings of in your face genitalia.

So far, the movies have been straight sex, I will be curious to see if there is anything gay or bizarre on the other tapes and what my cousin says when I mention my thorough cleaning the attic.

Yes I think the race between porn studios to outdo each other, and overcome our ever dulling response to their product, made porn increasingly other worldly. Body builder physiques, often silicone implants for the women, ugly tattoos as you say and choking, slapping, spitting and general aggressive nastiness. It just doesn't reflect what most people like/want and may well have led to bad experiences for young women whose young male partners had seen a lot of that stuff. Likewise, most men ironically rate their penis size as 'below average' (statistically impossible) because average rarely gets hired for porn.

It was far easier in those VHS days to relate to comically bad plot lines, plumbers dropping their pants for bored housewives with shoulder pads and big hair, all played out to a sleazy soundtrack.
