I have never specifically gone to a urologist.
However, about 10 years ago during a routine examination with my female doctor who was then about 30 years old, something unexpected happened to me.
It was a routine examination. Blood pressure, heart rate....
She also asked all kinds of questions about my health and at one point I noticed that I had to urinate more often than I used to.
Since I was in my forties, she said a prostate exam might be appropriate.
Before I knew it, I was bending my naked buttocks for her.
I found the rectal examination of my prostate quite painful.
And what made it even more humiliating was that I immediately got the feeling that I had to pee?
To keep it short , at the moment I found it anything but fun .
A few years later, back during a routine checkup, she remarked that it might be a good idea for a new prostate exam.
I thought "oh no". But okay, she's the doctor.
However, it turned out that in recent years a prostate examination is done by taking a blood sample. (which I also really hate).
The blood is examined by a medical lab and a rectal examination is no longer necessary.
Should I be happy or unhappy?
