Ovarian torsion

Is anyone familiar with ovarian torsion ? Have a friend who just got diagnosed with it. Female in young 30s, one child. Are there predisposing factors ? Does it just happen spontaneously ? Can you feel it upon palpation ?

Whilst it can be spontaneous it is more common in the presence of an ovarian cyst, typically 6cm or more, adhesions another factor.
