I recently went to steth nirvana with a lovely lady I met on this site. 8-)
Prior to meeting (I was in her area on business), we exchanged lots of messages and described what we wanted to do. On the evening before I left, we met in person at a coffee shop. After a brief conversation, we decided to go through with a play exam and she drove to my hotel.
We decided we’d warm up with a “house call” scenario and flipped a coin to determine who’d be the patient. I won because she was the patient 8-).
She undressed to the waist, put on a robe, and laid on the bed. I took her temperature, blood pressure (a tad high IIRC), her pulse (97!), and looked in her throat. Then I asked her permission to separate her robe so I could listen to hear heart. I planned to listen to her lungs but went straight to the good part… Since it was a house call scenario, I used my vintage 1970s Ford stethoscope. Of course, this experience was amazing but we were just warning up…
Then, it was my turn to be the patient so I took off my shirt and pulled up the bed sheet to my neck. She took my temperature, pulse, and blood pressure (yes, it was high). She then pulled down the sheet and listened to my heart with a Sprauge stethoscope and Littmann Cardiology IV w/Core attachment. At this point, I discovered that I liked receiving auscultation as well!
Following our warm up, I put on a white lab coat and handed her a blue cloth examination gown (she put it on with the opening to the back). This time, I started listening to her lungs in the back and asked for her permission to untie and lower the gown in the front. I then examined her (sitting and recumbent) with 5 stethoscopes (Ford, Sprauge, Littmann Cardiology III, Tychos triple head, and Littmann 3200). I recorded her beautiful heart with the Littmann 3200 so I can listen to it again whenever I want. Although I planned a realistic scenario, we became comfortable with each other and just laid on the bed listening to each other with the 7 stethoscopes we brought (sometimes simultaneously).
We plan to meet again on my next trip 8-).
