Anyone Take a Stuffed Animal or Doll's Temp as a Kid?

When I was about 3-4 years old I used to pretend to take GI Joe's temp with whatever I had at hand that looked like a thermometer. Given that Joe's anus, if he had one, would probably be about 3 mm in diameter, I'm sure he felt it.

Yes, I remember doing this! My stuffed animals frequently had their rectal temperatures taken by a pencil, despite me hating having it done myself.

Yes! I totally took my teddy bear's temperature rectally. This was another thing that made my grandmother laugh hysterically.

After my temperature was taken in my bottom, I took my teddy bears Edward and Rusty’s temps the same way. As they were my constant companions, anything that I came down with they were going to catch too.

During the late 60’s, my little sister’s Mrs. Beasley doll often got her temp taken by me- the same as mine was taken at the clinic. A few years later, my little sister’s bare bottom replaced Mrs. Beasley’s, but my internship was practiced upon dolls before I practiced on any real people.

Ohhhhhh yes. My Cabbage Patch dolls were frequently sick and needed their temperature rectally taken. I even had a tiny hole cut in them to slip the thermometer in all the way.

Playing doctor seemed a right of passage. I remember those plastic doctor bags with plastic stethoscope and pills, candy. My sister and I used a plastic popsicle stick as our thermometer. How we never got caught is beyond me.

Most of us have done this with stuffed animals and baby dolls as kids. Playing out what happened to us at the pediatrician. Shot, enemas, suppos…etc. Is like a rite of passage.
