I clear the calendar for the whole morning and keep it light the rest of the day.
Oral bisacodyl takes only seconds to go down. Once I take it, I am on the clock.
15 minutes to set up the room, including the bed.
20 minutes to mix the enema, fill the bag, hang it and attach the nozzle.
2 minutes or so to pee,
10 minutes to get positioned and comfortable
10 to 15 minutes for the pre-enema, depending on which type I use.
I always take my time on the insertion. Make sure I'm fully relaxed, do the insertion, make SURE I have it pointed at my navel.
Then I take another 5 minutes or so to relax, and make sure I'm in the right frame of mind for an enema.
At the same time I make sure I can see the digital clock clearly, the cell phone is OFF, (Yes, I did say OFF, not “airplane mode” but OFF!)
Then a few more seconds to make sure the nozzle has stayed in, and put one hand on the valve, making sure the other hand is NOT near my lower abdomen.
Another minute or so to relax.
I take at least 3 deep as possible breaths, more if I need more. The last one I hold in, open the valve and release.
If I got the height right, the enema will inject at the rate of about a quart per minute.
Retain it 15 minutes.
Takes about 20-25 minutes to fully expel
At that point there is some variability.
No set time to the next round, it's when I feel ready, not before and not too long after.
I average a round par hour starting with the second round, but that is average for the session, not a hard number. USUALLY, but not always the bisacodyl “kick in” happens around the expulsion of round 3, or 4.
It USUALLY but not always takes me 3-4 rounds to get to a clear return. Sometimes I need more!
A “Clear return” is where it looks like “peeing out the butt” with NO food scraps!
