Using the thermometer wrong in media

I laugh when I see an ad or commercial where a person has a red tipped thermometer in their mouth. I’ve also seen a medfet porn movie or two where the performer inserts the wrong end of the thermometer.

A lot of the pictures use an oral thermometer. It appears that the procucers didn't do their research.

Two 18 themed ( legal age models) magazines featured images of two different young females with glass thermometers, blue tipped triangular topped, sticking out from between their buttocks.

When I was a child I remember watching the doctor exam on sesame street, where a boy my age went to the doctor. When they told him to hold the thermometer under his tongue I remember thinking that's NOT how kids get their temp taken. I thought all boys my age got their temp taken in their bottom. Only later did I learn differently

Ive seen several ads where a rectal thermometer was used oral or vica versa . yes it is a big misnomer and the right tools should used in the right way.

There should be a technical person (advisor)from the medical community to assure the/a product being promoted in all respects, like temperature taking scenes of some sort, are accurate. I know if I see an ad and there are technical inaccuracies, that immediately puts me off the item(s) being touted.

The fact is, technical inaccuracies are not unique to ads. Somewhat common in movies and TV as well.

I have to agree with the latest comments. It is a real turnoff to me for sure. I have also noticed over the years on the photo section of many RT boards that the thermometer photos show the thermometer not pushed into the rectum far enough, they usually look like the thermometer could fall out any second. When correctly inserted on an adult or teen, the thermometer should for a USA glass thermometer be in ½ the length of the thermometer, this would be 2 inches on a normal 4-inch glass thermometer. On the EU thermometers, they should be pushed into the thermometer's glass shoulder, which is about 2 inches as well.

The porn industry is more concerned with exposing the butt and genitals and attracting viewers (read $$) than accurately portraying a real medical procedure or temperature. Many of the enema movies don't show the bag deflating etc. because they are fake. Zity medfetters are a select group who notice when things aren't done correctly or are faked - many who view those porn flicks probably don't know the difference or don't care.

For an accurate reading, the entire mercury column must be at body temperature. The higher the temperature, the more the thermometer should be pressed down.
