Is there music from your childhood that still takes you back to getting a thermometer in your butt, or being exposed?
Music to have your rectal temperature taken by:
(They Long To Be) sung by Karen Carpenter, or Dionne Warwick singing another Burt Bacharach song, (Do You Know The Way To San Jose), or Jethro Tull’s (Bungle In The Jungle) were the soundtrack songs of my childhood clinic visits. These, and tunes like them would play over the waiting room pipes as I sat with my mother awaiting the usual humiliation and probable pain down that long hallway after my name was called by my attending nurse. The music wasn’t piped into the exam rooms, but when a little boy is laying bottomless on a table, no one seemed to care if the doors was left open or ajar, so the music was usually still very audible.
No matter where or when I hear them, some songs are still an instant ‘thermometer in the butt’ for me.
Do any of you have music that still triggers childhood doctor’s office visit flashbacks?
