When I was a teenager, my mother used to give me monthly physical exams, including genitalia.

As I laid on my bed with my legs apart, my mother would palpate my labia, then spread them open to examine more closely.

@cal1082 , was your mom a nurse or have a medical background? My mom never did anything like that to me; at best, she stuck a suppository up my butt as a little girl when I got real sick from frequent ear infections.

My mom was a nurse, and let me tell you she was so sexually repressed AND tried to force a lot of that on me as a young girl. I got most of my sexual education from reading books at the library. My mom was big on keeping virginity til marriage and I think she was trying to scare me into not having sex by doing things akin to a virginity check, or catch me by seeing signs of activity shortly after she suspected I may have been having sex. Like, our discussion of masturbation was her telling me it's disgusting and women shouldn't do it.

Totally understand if people think the story is weird. I know now it is not normal but I didn't have a lot of friends growing up and the ones I did have, came from similarly dysfunctional settings. I thought it was totally normal for her to do this because I had no comparison from my peers and there was of course social shame from other girls regarding talking about things like this.

Why she did that specific thing I don't know. Eventually my hymen did break riding my bike, and she noticed, but yeah I'm not even sure anymore. It was 23/24 years ago and we are now extremely low contact...maybe this sheds some light for people.
