RT at School

I have never seen or heard of this but when I was nine I went to the grand opening of the brand new modern elementary school my brother attended (this was in 1975). The school educated kindergartners through second graders. I made a point of checking out the nurses office. Three of the walls were entirely glass although I suppose they had shutters. I noticed a glass jar full of thermometers and that all the bulbs were the stubby type. I couldn’t find any Vaseline though.

I have seen one photo or possibly a screen shot in what appears to be a Dutch college or high school infirmary in which an 18ish redhead is bent over a desk with her skirt up and panties down while a nurse holds an electronic thermometer in her bottom. It could be from a medfet movie but I think the photo was probably taken by the girl’s friends. It’s possible they were nursing students clowning around.

I was in grade school in the 60's and the nurses office had two thermometer holders one of each kind, red top and blue top. I only had my temp taken once is grade school and it was rectal, as the nurse could not get me to hold my mouth closed for an oral temp.

I guess they were used either at mandatory school physical exams, and surely when kids happened to get sick at school. But it is interesting if you saw some other type of equipment: Anesthesia equipment, enema equipment, speculums, endosocpes, spirometers, electrocardiograph or other equipment with electrodes, and whatever else spectacular. And how was the exam table, just flat and simple, or with a lot of facilities like stirrups or the like?

As far as I know, taking RT's in schools has never been a practise in the Netherlands.

In grammer school if you went to the nurse office sick temperature was always taken in the rectum. On the exam rtable pants and underwear down red tip thermometer. If you had a fever you were sent home. A parent had to pick you up.
