To me, “…enemas ‘till clear” means a complete cleanout of all poo. I don’t think this can be accomplished with just enemas. It is, in effect, the same as a prep for a colonoscopy. The GI tract is continuous, and if a cleanout is not top down, poo will simply continue to come down, and a cledtime. ean colon will start to refill with poo almost at once. Enemas 'till clear is only temporary.
A complete cleanout takes at least a half day. Here is what I do:
The night before, if I'm badly constipated, I take a full dose of Milk of Magnesia plus a full dose of Miralax at bedtime. These are to soften the poo and make the following day easier. These generally don't make me poo in the morning, but just get me ready to poo later on. Also, only liquids are consumed from here on, until the cleanout is complete.
Upon arising, I take a strong laxative. This can be one of these options:
2 Oz of Castor Oil, mixed into either orange juice or hot coffee or hot chocolate.
45ml of Lactulose in juice or coffee followed an hour later by another, similar dose.
6 Dulcolax pills, followed by a glass of Miralax every 15 minutes for 2 hours
6 Maximum Strength ExLax pills.
Depending on which is used, very strong pooing will start between 1 and 8 hours later. Note that any of the above are very strong laxatives. When it starts to work, it won't take no for an answer. They will make you poo… NOW! That's why the MoM and Miralax the night before if you are constipated because none of them will soften much. The poo is coming out pronto, no matter how hard. When the pooing has subsided, it's enema time. For this I usually have a helper.
I prefer my enemas to be comfortable so I get them with the Coloclean system. This is a disposable, closed enema system that can be used while lying in bed… warm and comfortable. No rushed trips to the toilet. They are available either direct or on eBay:

Since the Coloclean is not started until the laxative has made me poo, there are no worries about speculum clogging. Also, at the time the Coloclean speculum goes in, I like to have a Fr 16 latex Foley inserted and hooked to a bed bag, so the cleanout will not be interrupted by a need to pee. If the laxatives worked well, and they almost always do, the first bag is just plain water. If not, I add 20mg of Dulcolax (2 Magic Bullets) to the first bag of warm water. This enema causes strong cramps but completely empties out any remaining poo. After that, the next several enemas are just plain, warm water. It's easy to tell when I'm completely clean because all the fills are released into the poo bag and the contents are clearly visible.
The last fill can be either water with some baking soda or coffee, as desired. Both are soothing and relaxing.
After a full cleanout like this, I'm often pretty tired, and sometimes dose off The speculum can be left in place, still connected to the poo bag, just in case more water suddenly comes down unexpectedly. It is really quite comfortable to nap with the speculum in and catheterized.
