Sometimes, my colon gives me green lights at every turn and lets me into the traverse. Other times --like today-- it won't even let me into the sigmoid. Is this a common experience for others?

Some background. Inspired by Tanja's example --and informed and cautioned by what many others had said in many threads--, I decided to try for depth. 1-3/4" is a tolerable girth for probing my rectum. But I knew there's was no way I'd get deeper unless I reduced size. During a colonoscopy, docs reach the cecum with a 3/8" probe. So I built a 24" incher from 3/8" surgical tubing stuffed with a string of beads to create a bit of rigidity while maintaining flexibility. I rolled the end of tubing inward to create a smooth edge and plugged it.

Hugely apprehensive, I prepped, lubed, and got in 20" inches. This was totally beginner's luck, because the next time I tried, I couldn't make it into the descending. And it's been like since with a variety of other probes, lubes, preps, and positionings. How deep I can get seems to be totally random. Some days, my colon gives me green lights to go as deep as I dare. I can sense each obstruction as I encounter it and slip by with ease. Other days, it's nothing but red lights, road blocks, and the probes doubling back on themselves.
