Lights at a gyno office

For the past few visit every time my wife goes to the gyno when it comes time for the pap she dims the lights is this normal has anyone else have this happen

Mine does the same thing. It's so he can better focus the lantern on the exam site itself I was told. I wouldn't get concerned unless he/she lights candles and puts on some soft music!
