For those who don't know, the GAPS diet looks at autism in some cases as caused by certain types of food allergies (celiac disease is an example). Allergic reactions are not necessarily neurological, but can be; about half my family is celiac or has serious food allergies (my ex wife's side), and it's devastating unles it's treated. Fortunately, the treatment is pretty uncomplicated, and consists in finding what it is that causes your reaction. My oldest son can't eat wheat, but also has a problem with corn, eggs, and a few other things. As long as he stays away from those, he is fine.

Thos who promote the GAPS diet say it's analogous to that, although different in effect. Apparently that diet lacks fiber, similar to a ketogenic diet--hence enemas for constipation.
