Tales from the Procto Room

Before colonoscopy, before flex sigs , patients were examined with the ridgid sigmoidascope . The scope was an inch in diameter, and ten inches of gleaming surgical steel . Imagine a nozzle like that .

Patients kneeled on the procto table steps , and the table rotated and raised , putting their bottoms high in the air for the tender attention of the doctor .

As a young house office , I spent a month on the Gastro service , and performed lots of sigmoidascopies . The procedure went like this , a deep probing rectal exam was performed , and then the scope was slid past the anal sphincter. Then air was introduced with a rubber squeeze bulb . The colon was inflated with air , and the scope slowly advanced under direct visualization . This was the first practice of belly air inflation . We tried to advance the scope to the splenic flexure . I imagine a colon full of air and ten inches of scope “up there ,“ could be uncomfortable . One liked to be able to write “, Clear to 25 cm “ .

This was wryly known as “ Being Ridden by the Silver Stallion “.

Some of the nurses seemed to like working there . The prep was 4 H enemas , and they often had to give additional enemas to complete the prep . Most of the patients, did not seem to like the procedure , and would squirm and moan . A few seemed to really enjoy it . I remember this attractive 40 year old lady ...

I now realize that she loved medfet, and probably loved enemas as well ...

Some further thoughts , and memories of the Procto Room . Remember there was no Versed back then , one took the Scope , and one enjoyed/endured every sensation .

Between patients , the nurses and I wondered what it wold feel like to be “scoped “ . A nurse from Med/Surgery was scoped while I was there . She said it was like being sodomized by a horse , and inflated like a balloon at the same time .

That is why the Attending Docs called it “ Being Ridden by the Silver Stallion “.

There was a cute nurse who admitted liking to see patients scoped . She admitted to having sadistic feelings , and like to see the scope pushed in to the hilt . She also like holding them down if they were squirming too much .

I would have thought that anyone doing proctos and scoping should have it done to themselves before they are allowed to do to patients. It would give them a better idea what the patient was feeling from it. Same for caths, they should have it done to them several times first.

I get that line about being inflated like a balloon, but being sodomized by a horse with an - check this out - inch thick dick??? Well, that ain't a horse dick and I bet her turds were bigger than that. Call me biased by years of plugging, but come on - I guess that they coined "silver stallion" as an attempt to hide their anal appetites and look more prudish then they really were!

I guess it is the same as with all those videos where you can see docs extracting lost toys from patient's anuses - when it pops out they all laugh and cheer - I bet half of the people in the room thinks "I really have to stop using toys without a flare"

Nevertheless, I believe there are many many interesting tales from the procto room!

I never had the Silver Stallion proctoscope but had the lower GI exam by a proctologist who used a short tube to view my rectum and then a longer tube to view the lower intestine. This was not the same as a colonoscopy as that exam involves the whole GI tract and usually involves mild sedation. This lower GI exam was less involved than a colonoscopy. I had to do two enemas. One the night before and one the morning of the exam. Once in the exam room, I was told to take everything off but my t-shirt and was given a drape until the doctor arrived. The instruments were on a tray that was covered with a paper sheet so I wasn't sure what he was going to use on me. He started with a regular rectal exam with his lubricated gloved finger, then used the small scope to look into my rectum, and then a longer scope to go further. Maybe 18 inches on that scope. No sedation so that longer scope felt huge compared to the short tube scope that he used first. Didn't take long and wasn't painful. Nothing compared to the Silver Stallion rigid proctoscopes that doctors used before the flexible scopes came along. I heard stories about guys feeling a lot with those rigid scopes because they were 18 inches long and maybe 1.5 inches thick at the base. All metal and no bend to them.

I had just turned 14 when I was examined with a proctoscope during a visit to the doctor. It was the most embarrassing procedure I could think of at that age.

I had my suspicions already before the visit that it might happen. I was afraid and I feared the meeting with the doctor.

And my suspicions soon came true. I hated it! But it must have looked like I loved it because my penis was probably harder then the metal instrument I had deep inside of me....

And maybe I did like it in some strange kind of way. Afterwards I often came back to it in my fantasies...

Years later I met a play doctor who liked to check me with a sigmoidoscope. He had already reintroduced me for the proctoscope at an earlier meeting. It had worked out fine and I was just as tempted as him to let him try the real old fashioned, rigid sigmoidoscope on me.

After beeing thourouglly cleaned out I was put in a kneeling position on the exam table with my bottom up in the air. A humilating position and even more humilating was it to watch him grease and prepare the sigmoidoscope for me.

I thought I could never take such a long non-flexible and hard object inside me.

He greased also my anal opening and soon I could feel the pressure of the cold steel against my sphincter. It opened up and slowly the instrument was sliding inside me.

When about half way in it was suddenly stop. I could hear and soon also feel inside me how air was pumped and introduced into my bowel. It was a bit uncomfortabel but he didn´t fill me with more air then necessary.

I felt how he changed the angle of the sigmoidoscope and suddenly he could push it in further. After a short while it was all the way in. And at that moment it felt like I could have taken it even deeper...

I guess I belong to the very few people who enjoyed the procedure.

But it´s a big difference in a play game where you voluntarily choose to do it compared to having to do it in "real life" so to say.

I did ride that “horse” once when I was 20. While I enjoy anal sex, that instrument did not feel any where near as good as a penis. When they say rigid, they mean it. I didn’t really enjoy the experience.

I had the procto exam twice with the rigid sigmoidoscope. I knelt on the procto table step and leaned forward. Then the procto table was raised and tilted head down. The doctor pulled my underwear down to my knees, putting my now very bare bottom high in the air for his attention as well as the cute nurse and that 25 cm of cold stainless steel, which I thought felt wonderful each time I had that exam.

The prep I had both times was a self-administered Fleet Enema in a public restroom. I just wish it had been 4 H enemas, and then had to be given some additional enemas to complete the prep. That would have been fun. I had my colon inflated with air as the scope was slowly advanced under direct visualization. I worried about that air, but the doctor let it out before he withdrew the scope.

The prep I had for a flexible-sigmoidoscopy exam was two Fleet Enemas, give 30 minutes apart about two hours before the exam.

I have to say that I enjoyed the whole process and would do it again in a heartbeat.

We still use proctoscope in our clinic, and we do not use any special table, just normal examination table. Patient gets on all fours/knee-chest position.

I must admit I do like to lube scope with vaseline and then watch it slowly being pushed all the way in, so just a handle sticks out!

During my 70 years I have had 1 anoscopy, 1 rigid sigmoidoscopy, 1 flexible sigmoidoscopy, 2 barium enemas, and 3 colonoscopies. I have never had an office prep. For each of my barium enemas I was provided with the"fleet enema kit 3" including the packet of kastile soap to use at home. I believe that I have posted about each of these procedures at some point on zity.biz.

Had 2 ridgid sigmoidoscopies when I was 17 and 18 yrs old. Yes, it was miserable and made me squirm and moan in discomfort. Very terrifying with the air being pumped in over and over again and the constant probing and jabbing feelings. I thought they were damaging me but were deliberate in it all. They kept telling me to breath deep and not move or it will take longer. I got tears in my eyes from fright and trying to comply as to not be injured. I got a look at the scope afterwards laying on the counter and it was about at least 15 inches long and about an inch wide. I later learned that 24 centimeters was how much they had it in me , reading the dr notes late, and it is about 12 inches. . Not to mention the nurse who assisted made it more embarassing, and the guy who came into the room twice to get something out of a cupboard next to the table I was laying on , on my side who was in full view of it all.

It wasnt just the scoping. Before that, he did a slow throrough visual exam spreading my anus and cheeks open and asking me to squeeze my anus tightly without tightening my buttocks, then relax, and then to breath deep and push out like I waas trying to have a hard poop. Then he took cultures with two long wooden Q tips together (cytology swabs) and explained that it would be the most uncomfortable part of the exam because they were going in dry without lubrication. They were twisted and then rapidly brushed in and out. Now after a rest, a rectal temperature was taken. Then digital rectal exam with the usual twisting and turning. The next thing was the nurse and dr placing a 2 foot long piece of wide gauze around my balls . They wrapped the gauze around my balls and had me lift my leg up to do this while I waas still laying on my side with the two ends in front that they told me to hold on to the ends with one hand and pull them up in front of me to my chest then let my leg down again. This keeps my balls out of the way. The nurses job ws to keep my butt cheeks spread open. The first scope was an anoscope that was inserted several times. Then the big sigmoidoscope was inserted and retracted over and over again , each time plunging deeper and deeper. Retracted and plunged again and again. Afterwards , they wiped me up very thoroughly and told to just lay on my back and relax for a while before getting up which I did . Still naked with a small wash cloth over my genitals. Then I was told to lay on my side again while he checked for blood and spread my cheeks . Then said I was ok to leave. Getting off the table he stood next to me and helped me up and me still naked, put his hand out to shake my hand and said “ are we still friends”. Kind of funny but he was gentle and kind.

This was done at a small hospital back east that specialized in anal rectal diseases /problems. I came out with diagnosies of irritable bowell syndrome.

I've had several of these exams. I find the positioning to be a turn on to start with - on the knees with head down on pillow and butt in the air, and then the feeling of the next 18 inches or so of rigid, solid stainless steel scope sliding slowly into the rectum and colon. I've always enjoyed the rigid sigmoidoscopy.
