I've used and received glass candy thermometers with a couple of play partners. Great sensation but in retrospect, I recommend they not be used. The glass is thin and even with plenty of lubricant, there is the risk of breaking. The large veterinary thermometers are pretty safe. In every aspect of our fetish, safety first!!!

Just the feeling of having a rectal temperature taken is awesome. Age 4 taken and placed on my diaper changing table, pants come down next the Huggies diaper, legs lifted and the sensation as the thermometer is inserted inside my bottom is the best feeling ever.

My first memories are being in a cold exam room and then having this ice cold rod go in the most unexpected of places. It's so cold that my cheeks clench in an attempt to try to warm it!

My first memory of getting a rectal temperature was when I was very little. I remember being in my underwear and being put on the exam table positioned on my tummy and then feeling a glass rod go up my butt. I remember not minding it at all. It felt different, but also very relaxing.

Having a glass thermometer with a big glob of Vaseline or K-Y jelly on it inserted in your rectum was oddly pleasant - a little cold but overall very soothing. Having your buttocks spread apart by a female nurse made the process very erotic.

I always feel intense heat when my sphincter is being opened. That being said, I dont think the actual insertion causes much pleasure, I think its mostly the feeling of being exposed, regressed, over someones knee, and having it taken that way, at least for me

The primary experience was via a medical setting and occasionally from mom when required by the physician. I don't recall much before age 7 and then it was not traumatic. The typical requirement was for a physical and usually done while mom was present to assist in lowering my briefs and for me to turn onto my belly. The insertion was more shocking than uncomfortable with cool ky used to lube the thermometer and my rectum. I remember it feeling rather rigid and slippery upon insertion and removal. As I got older, I became more aware of clenching when it was inserted as well as being exposed. From 11 on it was clearly more anxiety and embarrassment that I held onto when being bare on the table for the RT. I have already shared that as puberty began, the arousal factor took over and I had the dubious distinction of losing it when having my temp taken.

Over time, the anticipation of having a RT became a source of incredible arousal and still is. There is in my view nothing like the moment of being told, having to position your body, and then accepting the spreading of you buttocks and the insertion slow but steady until the nurse determines when to stop and hold it in position. After there is the unique slipperiness of the lube in your rectum and between your cheeks leaving tell tale mark on the exam paper.

It’s sweet, smooth, and spine-tingling for some, and uncomfortable or painful for others.

Seeing how a thermometer is considerably thinner than the average stool one passes each day, I can't see how anyone could think an r/t would be painful.

In a hospital when a nurse woke me up at 7 AM to insert a probe in my bottom, it felt very mechanical. The probe wasn’t in me long, just a few seconds, so it was hard to feel much sensation.

Contrast that to being at home in my own cozy bed and a visiting nurse is shaking down a glass thermometer while my husband is helping me turn onto my side. That is a very different feeling!

Slight pressure. The fright factor of it slipping out. A slight clench. The anticipation of it coming out and being smelled or even licked. It’s all of that and more

You could try laboratory glass stirring rod, they come in various lengths and thicknesses. Some come with a round bulbous end of various sizes, plus the rods are made of solid glass or Pyrex so they are fairly strong and less likely to break. Used straight from the fridge or freezer.

It's a surprise to feel the thermometer slipping in, then a ticklish sensation while waiting. If I'm having it taken and the thermometer is being held in place the ticklish sensation is more intense when I feel the thermometer moving.

I was in the hospital for about a week when I was 7 or 8. They took my temperature a few times a day, and EVERY TIME it was rectal. The nurse had me lie on my stomach and she pulled down my pajamas and underwear. She dipped the thermometer in some kind of lube and inserted it. I remember feeling embarrassed and weirdly excited at the same time. When she as done and pulled up my underwear and PJs, I'd clench my butt cheeks together so I could feel the lube on my butthole.

To this day I like doing that with ladies to recreate that same sensation with them.

For me receiving a rectal temperature is exciting. Your anus is first lubed by a finger or two. Parting your buttocks a lubricated thermometer is inserted. The rectum is close to the lower back where at the nerve endings are . A tingling sensation when the thermometer is inserted.

I never have had a painful RT, but I have heard people say they have had one or more, I wonder what the takers are doing wrong to case pain.

Some caregivers both in and out of medical venues like a trainee or inexperienced student is asked or told to take a patient’s rectal temperature.

They are either unaware of the nuances of the procedure, possibly having heard something like, “Oh, don’t worry, just stick it up their behind. You’ll be fine!” Or, there are some, and I’ve experienced it; where the person doing it is a bit too eager and literally shoved it into your rectum.

Any medical appliance being inserted into your anus and rectum must be done carefully.

Oh gosh, all I can remember from 28 years ago is that it felt cold and squishy with the lube and a strange feeling. Can't explain it, felt awkward like having a tiny finger up your bum.

I used to be very hesitant about the rectal thermometer being inserted in my rectum, maybe from past experiences and mental blocks. I just didnt know what to initially think or feel when my husband first introduced his fetish with RT's. Good thing I love my @AnthonyRT and also, that he is an exceptionally, excellent RT giver! It was due to his care that I came to realize and appreciate that good feeling of having a thermometer in my bottom.

He usually uses the glass mercury thermometer, and I tend to agree about the part that you don't really feel them other than that initial insertion. For me, what enhances that feeling is the mental aspect of knowing what is about to happen...the anticipation, if you will. I also happen to enjoy the little details, like having to reach behind and spread my cheek for the doctor, while the doctor spreads the other cheek. That feeling of spreading my anus also adds to that feeling. Its the nerve endings being manipulated, in essence.

I would also add that, after a good five years or so of enjoying the glass thermometers, I do enjoy the thicker thermometers now. I like that feeling of my rectum being filled and the thicker ones satisfy that feeling.

I did forget to mention that with the smaller glass thermometers, I especially enjoy it when the doctors shoves it in deep initially....and VERY carefully, I might add!...as well as the twirling and the "in and out" motion. Can't stress enough, above all, how immensely important it is for anyone taking a rectal temperature, to have safety and care in mind. I have had a few times where the play doctor was NOT careful.

Good post you put up. Sort of have a similar take. Had it done as a youngster. Then for years no longer rectal. It was dormant until my 20s and came back strong.

Probably had more RTs as an adult than ever as a youngster. Many unique experiences as well when getting my RT taken.

Your last comment, well stated. A safe insertion into the rectum is paramount, be it a thermometer or other medical device.

Yes ShyGirl, from the giver's perspective, it is an amazing moment when the patient spreads herself and willingly makes herself vulnerable to the Dr...very erotic. Especially because of the professional type of setting.

Aren't today's thermometers different from those from back in the days? My impression is that American rectal thermometers were meant to be inserted deep while European ones just the tip.

The sensation of an urge to go poop is normal - in fact my mother told me she sometimes used the thermometer on me to trigger a bowel movement when I was little.

Sadly I dont remember the feeling I got when I was a kid having a thermometer inserted but now it feels very good.

It's exquisitely pleasurable if the angle of the thermometer is just right so that the tip grazes against your prostate as it is inserted deeper. With a little manual manipulation of the inserted thermometer, receiving a rectal temperature can be even more pleasurable
