I almost always keep my eyes open I love looking at her masked face and try to get any glimpse of her gloved hands I can
Closed tight shut, seeing the equipment would scare me to death, medical stuff I love, dental terrifies me
I’ve seen both. I personally keep my eyes open, but I’ve noticed a lot close them. Not to sound sexist, but I’ve especially noticed this among women.
When i had my root canal done earlier this year i sat back with my eyes closed and ear plugs in my ears as to drown out the sound of the drill. I of course left my shoes as i tend to have slightly smeely feet. But another thing that helped me was i opted to have N2O giving to me as well as the local anaesthesia just so i would be more relaxed while he was doing all his poking and proding in my mouth.
I usually have them open unless it hurts. I usually like to know what's going on. Plus the dentist i go to (hopefully i no longer have to go there soon) has quite nice eyes so I used to distract myself just studying their colour haha
I’ve started going to the dentist loads (got a brace) and ive often wondered what others do.Sometimes I have my eyes open but I think mostly closed out of boredom. There’s nothing to look at and I find the light a little too bright!Any dentists here? Do you find it awkward if the patient looks?
I have attractive dentist. It is nice to see her with mask on and focused eyes. That being said I am relaxed and have my eyes closed most of the time because I find it weird to stare at someone whilst they are just next to me. By the end of procedure I am almost ready to fall alseep
At our dentists ,we lie flat in the chair whereas when I was at school, the dentist then treated us sitting up.We are given a bib and goggles,I spend most of my time staring at the ceiling,or the flies trapped in the flourescant light diffusers.Eyes are open the whole time.
I normally look up at the ceiling until the hygienist or dentist come in, and then I look at them while they speak. While they work in my mouth, I normally have my eyes closed.
This topic is interesting and coincidental. I just had a root canal done on a front tooth about a week ago. The endodontist who did the work was very through and my procedure was totally painless. I noticed that while she did the tooth, I had my eyes closed the whole time, only during the procedure itself, otherwise, eyes wide open. She did have me wear a pair of dark tinted safety glasses through it all, maybe a Covid-19 precaution…
I used to have my eyes open. Then I thought it might be weird for the dentist. So I've decided to have them closed, although I prefer to see what's happening. I always have my eyes open during the examination.
Open, unless there is water squirting in which case closed. I face a window with a nice view usually.
Eyes open, they allways put glasses on me that look like they are from the 1980s but they block out most of the light.
Generally I keep my eyes open, trying to see as much as possible. I’ll occasionally close my eyes if something is particularly painful or if I’m breathing nitrous and starting to relax.
