Your pet peeves in medfet stories

Hope this is the correct forum but I was just wondering what do you dislike in medfet stories. My two pet hates are descriptions on how turned on the patient is and the word pussy. What are your's?

Same about the first part, that often goes over the top, especially with Kindle-sold stories lol.

1. Use of slang terms (cock, pussy, etc) in place of correct anatomic terms.

2. Poor formatting (running every paragraph together, etc), poor grammar and punctuation.

3. Doctor or nurse turning exam into a sex scene with the patient.

I'd have to agree with the other comments. And keep it realistic.

I just can't get myself to read stories that are formatted as one massive paragraph full of run-on sentences. I might be missing out on a great story, but my eyes just glaze over when I see something like that. It's just too difficult to read and not worth the effort.

Above all, I want something that is at least somewhat realistic. Sure, you can take it over the top a bit once the story evolves. But at least the initial scenario for the story has to be something that could actually happen. For example: I'm not into alien abduction medical exams or stories about being stripped and examined by my new female boss in front of the other employees!

Well, sometimes the stories are worth the effort if the subject matter rings your bell.

That is how I started writing stories myself, by first correcting and formatting and editing stories others had written. The original Playdoc wrote some stories like that and I just couldn't help putting them into paragraphs with capital letters at the beginning of a sentence, using quotation marks and commas as needed, turning thoughts into coherent and correct sentences, etc etc.

Then I began to add some sentences here or there, then a paragraph and then it ended up being whole pages added on.

I'd done proofreading and editing before in a real world job, often from handwritten texts, so it came easily enough, not much effort was required. Then when I started with Speculumpages, the submitted stories most certainly needed lots of editing and formatting. But it becomes second nature after a while. I still can't read published books without subconsciously spotting typos. It jars my flow of thought and I have to go back and reread. And I often mark the typos in books, just for the fun of it. With self-editing nowadays, there are more typos in books than when I was young it seems.

By far my biggest complaint is when an exam morphs into the Doc and Patient having sex. If something were to happen between them later away from the exam room it's one thing but turning into a cheap porno during the exam just totally ruins it for me.

I can overlook some of the spelling and grammatical errors in the stories. The main thing I want to read is a story with a thread of credibility. As another post stated, the doctor and patient having wild sex based on a shared look or something else equally silly. Those loose my interest quickly

You ought to try editing an article like that, which is, moreover, written by hand ... and then writing it over correctly by hand as well. You young 'uns have it easy nowadays with word processors. 😃

I agree with previous posts stating that when story is written without paragraphs. I would not call it a pet peeve because if first few lines caught my attention and I find it interesting I might read it till the end.

What my actual pet peeve about medfet story is when author seems confused. The story starts in a clinical setting, very realistic with medical terminology and 200 sentences later doctor suddenly starts pumping patient's "pussy". I have no problem with fantasy but mixing them makes me loose intrest.

Another pet peeve is when the story is intresting and divided into parts. But even after 5 parts story has not proceeded with the speed like it should. Like just one part is stretched to doctor taking rectal temperature and second part is doctor inserting speculum and taking it out.

I like stories which are well detailed yet not one tiny procedure elongated to one-two parts.

I doubt any of us are professional writers. Most of the stories are written by members who do it for their own pleasure. And that means they are probably engaging in writing down personal masturbatory fantasies. Nothing wrong with that it all, it's quite fun in fact.

But that means that stories will often proceed in a similar fashion, dwelling on a particular aspect that tickles the author's fancy, skipping over parts to proceed to the next scene of interest, much as what happens in dreams or fantasies. And many stories do abruptly end, just as in real life fantasy, things of the mind often end. Either by petering out or in a more abrupt fashion, as a climax of sorts.

On Speculumpages we edited several thousand stories and received, but did not use even more, and this is what I observed the general pattern to be. This is normal for stories written by enthusiasts who are doing it for self pleasure. Once you start getting paid then it's a whole different ballgame, but in my opinion, amateur written porn is far superior to commercial written porn, even if the formatting is sometimes a bit off.

Besides, if you really like the story itself, (re)formatting with a word processor is a piece of cake.

James Michener's writing 'gimmick' was more like telling x number of separate, but historically connected stories in one single and impressively thick book. What he really did in most of his books - except the first: 'Tales of the South Pacific' - was to knit a number of novella length stories to each other via a historical family bloodline or by linking the overall story to a specific place and then also knitting short stories together over a specific period of time (like 'the Source').

Other prolific writers of thick books often work by sub-contracting the actual writing out. They just produce detailed story-ideas and let other desperate authors do the real drudgery of pounding out several hundred pages of story. Think authors like Tom Clancy or others who publish 1 thick volume a year or so for years on end. They sell millions of copies of one book and pay out maybe a hundred thou at most to a sub-contractor, probably less.

That is the real business of writing and publishing ... that's also why publishers are desperate to continue with a 'story franchise' after an author's death. Think Ludlum and poor Jason Bourne still on the run so long after Ludlum's death ... ha ha.

I agree with most others and what they have said. I can't spell worth a crap, but I try my best to, which is all I ask of anyone writing a story. If you get a red line under a word it might be spelled wrong, so right click and see what suggestions it gives you. That takes two seconds.

Because I am a real medical professional and am dating one as well, we tend to keep it real. But here's the thing. It depends on what mood we are in. So when it comes to stories I personally like to see them kept medically accurate when they are in the medical setting. But what happens outside the office can be whatever.

I don't mind hearing words like pussy and cock when they are not over used and are not being used within the medical setting itself. Medical professionals just don't use those terms when they are at work. Now again, when they are not working, as long as they are not used to much then I happen to find them to be a turn on. I think I do because in my real life when Doc says naughty words like that it makes me horny, lol. It's just so naughty, lol.

My biggest pet peeve of all and I am very very surprised no one has mentioned it so far is when someone starts writing a story and never comes back to finish it. That drives me totally nuts. As a matter of fact, if a story is left unfinished for longer a year I move it to "deleted" content if the member hasn't been here. If they are here often I send them a note and ask them what they plan on doing with it and then go from there. But that is my biggest pet peeve of all.

My biggest pet peeve of all and I am very very surprised no one has mentioned it so far is when someone starts writing a story and never comes back to finish it.

My hard drive has dozens and dozens of stories I started writing once upon a time and never finished. One of the reasons for this is that I do it for fun and pleasure. Now, if I were to get paid that would be an entirely different matter. Then you are more or less compelled to hand in a finished product.

But even with paid writing, haven't you ever noticed that some books finish somewhat abruptly, leave things hanging in the air, don't tie up loose ends and leave many questions unanswered? You could argue and say that is a good way to set up for a sequel, but even so, many books don't go on to a sequel or follow-up anyway. I suspect it is mainly because finishing a story at a similar pace as it is told at the beginning and middle is hard to do. Above all it takes time and effort and you have to think it logically through and people/writers become impatient and just want to get the job done. Especially if you are writing just for the fun of it.

On a personal note, my favorite part of writing naughty stories, is setting up a situation that logically and believably progresses to the naughty parts, along with describing motives and rationalizations and feelings of anticipation or dread (depending on the story mood). The actual 'action' parts of a story holds less interest for some reason I've never really been able to determine in depth.

I would be kind of intrested in your unfinished stories. I think it would be great if you could post them somewhere please. Maybe someone else could finish them😃

I'm as guilty as the next writer of taking way too much time to get to the more "fun" parts of the story. Looking back at the stories that I've written, I think some of them are too long -- some of them really, really too long. But then when I start to read them again from the beginning, I realize that I still enjoy them just as they are. And I'm reminded that even those parts in the beginning of the story that seem to be slow moving are exciting and often arousing. At least they are to me, otherwise I wouldn't have included them. So yes, I view development of a story as important. Think of it as the foreplay leading up to the really good parts. And also consider that everyone has a different opinion on what is a "good part". Some readers may wish to quickly read a short 4 paragraph story that gets right to a rectal or prostate exam. Others might prefer something more substantial where other parts of an exam are first conducted, whetting the reader's appetite for the inevitable "good parts" to come.

And as a few others have mentioned, I demand continuity in a story. It should be consistent in tone, language and, most importantly, the story line. I don't like it when you're told one thing in part 3 of a story that completely contradicts something you were told in part 1! My simple solution to continuity issues is to not publish any part of a story until it is 100% complete. I find that late in a story, I'm still making changes in the major characters and adjusting things that occurred earlier in the story. And since I haven't published any part of it yet, I have the freedom to make those changes in order to improve the story.

And even worse than inconsistencies in a story is one that is never finished. It's sad when you read one or more parts of a story and really begin to enjoy it, until you realize that the author has lost interest and never intends to finish it.

I must admit that I really dislike stories that do not have paragraphs , and often no matter how well written , I very rarely take the time to read it . As others have mentioned , I sort of glaze over it, as its difficult not to loose your place in the mass jungle of text no matter how interesting the story is.

My second pet peeve is the "doctor" and "patient " having sex in the story. I like the story to be as factual as possible when compared to real life, with a thread of credibility. I very rarely finish a story where the "doctor" and "patient" start having sex.

As others have mentioned, writing a good story and not concluding it , as in completing it, especially if its well written , is simply unforgivable in my opinion. Or give an insight into a continuation and then nothing Grrrrrrrrrr!!!!.

Well those are my 3 top pet peeves when it comes to writing medfet stories .

In regards to unfinished stories maybe it would be best if inactive and unfinished stories could be somehow marked so that the reader knows what to expect and isn't to disapointed

Long drawn out stories with no plot . Bad grammar . I'm ok with broken English as a lot of members are international . Making a story really long and drawn out to look big does not make it better it makes it more boring haha. There are a lot of great reads on here that people have asked,"What do you think should I go further?" And people have said yes! And the stories never get finished . Please finish them . They're great . A lot of potential . Please use proper medical terms otherwise I lose interest fast . I don't want to hear hear about a speculum in your pussy or a cock in your ass. Interest gone . Fine for some but I like realism. I know the site is huge and not every story can be removed or finished etc . But after a certain amount of time maybe they can be deleted . As for the rest there are some great stories on here and I hope to see a lot more . We aren't all Wordsmiths and that's fine . Write a good titillating tale with good spelling and decent grammar and proper terms and you've got me !

Absolutely agree. Detailed, well thought out and formatted well enough not to make it a chore to read.

The basic trotting out of every little dirty word our mothers didn't want us to use really doesn't do it for me.

I appreciate a well written account and one that does not exaggerate the patient's perspective. I don't particularly like stories that focus on orgasm or the patient being manipulated to that point. Otherwise I agree with what has been offered and might also suggest that maybe we attempt a group write up. Just an idea with someone starting a prompt and having it enriched by say 2 or 3 other writers.

My thoughts exactly. I believe we've tried group write-ups and prompts in the past and the attempts simply whither and die. As do story contests. A story will only be worthwhile and interesting to read if it was worthwhile and interesting for you to write. And only you know what kinds of things interest (AKA turn-on) you.

Gosh, I've never participated in a group story. #1) I have very specific likes and would go crazy seeing others contribute in a way I would never write for myself and #2) I'm on other messageboards for various things, and a common thread to start is a story where everyone posts three words. Those things are an absolute hot mess. Especially when punctuation norms are deviated from.

So, OK, I guess that would be a pet peeve in reading stories. But really, I don't read too many stories, because my own fetishes are so specific, and I have extremely limited interest in anything else.
