Mouth washed out with soap

This topic comes up from time to time on my feed. Every time I read the caption I feel violated 😅.

To me it sounds so unpleasant that I always cringe a bit.

I never had my mouth washed out with soap and I will do my very best and hope it stays that way.

If it is someone’s cup of tea, I am not judging, in fact you can have my soap bar and mouth scrubbing for free if you’d like 😉.

A true story from my junior high years, a very long time ago: One guy wanted to leave the classroom to go to the bathroom. The teacher was reluctant to let him go, perhaps feeling that he just wanted to stroll out. The kid then proclaimed loudly: "God dammit, I gotta take a sh-t!" and started to leave. So when a second boy also wanted to go, the teacher said "Go along with him and see that he washes his mouth out with soap!" They both than left, and I doubt that the second boy actually took on the role of enforcer once out there, but the teacher probably felt that she at least had saved face by doing something in response to the use of such language in her class.
