How do you folks feel about chaperons in the exam room?

When my female doctor does my genital and prostate exams she is always accompanied by a female chaperon, either the LPN or the receptionist, who is attending nursing school. When they enter the exam room I am seated on the table, naked from the waist down, with a paper drape on my lap. The chaperon takes the drape as I stand up and holds it up so that she doesn't see below my waist.

How do you folks feel about chaperons in the exam room? Who are the chaperons and do they see you naked?

Usually its a nurse, and they just stand in the same room as the doctor.

I always ask for a chaperon because there have been times when they weren't going to give me one. Perhaps I have trust issues with people or perhaps i just really like the feeling of being on display. It is quite erotic having more than one person watching and assisting. Makes the experience for me.

There has always been a nurse present when I am having a Gyno exam, even if there are medical students present.

I don't mind it as long as they are female. I have had some doctors who require the chaperons to actually watch the genital exams to make sure that no sexual incidents accidentally occur.

I had a female assistant that had me undress and I told her I didn't need the gown, which she said ok. She came in the room a few minutes before the doctor but she only looked once real quick while she was checking the instruments.

I'd much prefer not having a chaperone; having more people there makes it worse. The first time I went the nurse had gone home so it was just the doctor and my girlfriend which was better than subsequent times with an official chaperone. With that doctor I could request not having a chaperone (since he'd already done it once he coldn't argue) but now I've moved and they always provide one.

It's always a female nurse for me, and they see as much of you as the doctor does.

At my last exam I was asked if I wanted a chaperon; I declined the offer. I was examined by a female doctor.

I've only had a chaperon when i've been to a male gyn. with a female dr. it's always been just her and me.

at my current gyn the chaperon is there to 'observe' the exam, so she stands behind him and slightly off to the side, just watching the dr. do his exam on me. having her there just staring at my exposed sex makes it more embarrassing for sure.

the first time i went to him i couldn't believe she was just standing there at the business end of the table watching me get a pelvic exam, seeing all of me just like the doctor does. every time before the chaperon usually just stood in the room, near the counter or off to side where she was not at an angle to be able to see anything.

Just wanted to hear from the girls if they have ever had a checkup by a male doctor and were alone in the exam room with him. how old were you and what were you wearing while he was examining you?

In spain, all men and women with more than 18yo are examined alone, perhaps sometimes a nurse, but not usual.

It's not permited who anyone stay in the exam room.

I'm retired military and use military medical facilities. Civilian clinics/hospitals may be different.

At the clinic I go to, it is prominently posted in all exam rooms that a patient may request a chaperone during any exam. This applies to both male and female patients.

In France my wife was examined by a male physician without a nurse or anyone else present. She disrobed in a changing room but was not given a gown.

My secretary went to a different doctor, also male, who examined her nude and without a nurse present. She did need an interpreter, however, who was also male. She disrobed in front of the men and was quite embarrassed. When she went into hospital for minor surgery her temp was always taken rectally and much of her medication was in suppository form.

Things may have changed in the last few years. One factor seems to be a chronic shortage of both doctors/PA's and enlisted medics.

I'm sure that the number of overseas deployments and the last couple of rounds of base closings and realignments are factors.

I guess if a patient is comfortable with a Dr. or PA, a chaperone is optional, but available if the patient would prefer one.

I have done tons of Ekg's on female of all ages shapes and sizes and will always ask if they want a woman to do it or if they want one to be present if they say no to both then i go ahead and do my job very proffesionally of course. the only time i don't ask if they complain of chest pain then i go get the machine and both sides of the gown get popped open and pulled down, and the only reason i do it that way is cuz it's just the quickest to do it.

Theres not enough personel to do that anymore. It used to be standard practice, but now it doesnt happen ubless the patient requests a chaperone in the room with her. Its all about saving money

Where i work, it is always the practice for the male doctor to have a female chaperone when examining a female patient intimately. I must admit, i got a bit excited when watching a rather lovely doctor probe his finger deep inside a very pretty woman. Im not a lesbian, but i really did find that erotic. 😉

However, if i am examining a male, i just get on with it.

My SO reports that her doctor who is male examines her breasts and vulva without a chaperon. The exam room is small and she prefers to be alone with the doc while undergoing the internal exam. She reports he is extremely gentle with the speculum and causes her no discomfort whatsoever when he inserts his fingers and presses down on her lower abdomen. From what I understand, there are no laws governing this, as it's individual policies of the doctor's offices/hospitals.

But in this day and age, most male docs would be smart to have a female chaperone present, just in case someone accuses them of improprieties.

Can a doc get in trouble if a pup tent develops in his pants during an exam? Because if I were a gyno, I'd be hard every time I probed a hot chick's pussy. I'd probably jack off in my office between exams.

I have been present when males have been examined nude in front of females 9one on work experience) while males have been asked to leave before females were examined. definately double standards.

In some countries in Europe it's very typical that a male doctor performs an exam to a girl or a woman alone in the exam room even at a school. There are no chaperones in the exam room during gyn exams.

I had a co worker who had to have a chaperone for a company physical once... he said durring his exam his boss who accompanied him to the doctors office went to the exam room with him and remained throughout the exam. He said he was friends with his superviser and knew him for a long time. He said the boss who was his age didnt have full view of the exam..but could see most of the exam.

I once had a female doctor who was really a witch. She seemed to dread giving a genital / prostate exam.

She called in this really happy nurse who appeared to have a great rapport with the patients.

After the exam was all over..the nurse told me on the side she thought the Dr. was "asexual".

I never went back there again.

I have had 2 female docs I'm a male one had me drop my pants and she checked out my testicals and penis. She was in her 30's asian woman. She also did a DRE too only for a sec to check for blood. When I started to get hard she ended the exam. There wasn't anyone else the room. Planning on seeing a new woman doc soon have to find one. Its funny when I call these offices they always say a couple of times that it's a woman doctor.

I have only had a chaperon on one occasion. I am a male and so was the physician. The chaperon was a female nurse and she saw everything.

Have had many, many exams by female doctors, nurses, NPs and PAs, and never once had a chaperon. I have had a chaperon only once. I was getting a testicle ultrasound and was assigned to a very fat and quite unattractive blond woman who was about 35. She ushered me into a tiny exam room, told me to get undressed, etc. When she came back to do the test, she was accompanied by an equally fat and unattractive yet older woman, who, she announced, was to be "our chaperon". The chaperon then told me that it was "for your protection as well as ours'! I was flabbergasted. Was she saying these two extremely unattractive women were in danger of being raped? Or was I?? Hell, there was barely room to breathe in that little room, much less have at someone. It took all my self-control to not laugh. To this day remembering it amuses me. It seems to me a perfect example of how deluded people can become.

In the end they're a business, and need to protect them selve under every circumstance, likely or not.

That does not ring true from my experience, at all. I have had dozens of exams where I was exposed and examined by single, female medical practitioners -- MDs, NPs, PAs, RNs, you name it -- with no chaperon. And they have a lot more reputation and $$ to protect than a technician. I've had one exam with a female ultrasound technician, and she needed a chaperon? If you believe that you will believe anything. What was really going on? -- it's this: the ultrasound tech had a vivid and probably sexually underfed imagination! She wanted to feel wanted!!

I had a chaperone once during physical with a female doctor when I was around 30. It was odd as with everything you read, the young, not real good looking, chaperone stood there and just watch awkwardly trying to look busy. At the end of the physical, a rectal was not done, but a complete genital exam was which she watched.
