Ivory Soap Flakes, where to get ?

Where (or how) does one get Ivory soap flakes? I have read about this in several places but have not seen them available locally....

Can anyone please advise?

I make Ivory soap flakes by just grating the bar of Ivory soap up on a kitchen grater. (Of course my sub doing this for me while taking an enema would be better.)

The original Ivory Snow Flakes, used for laundry and bubble baths that was SOAP, not detergent was discontinued in 1978. If you want flakes now, you have to grate your own bars of Ivory. I was lucky enough to have been a child while they were still in production so I could enjoy the real Ivory Snow bubble baths.

If you are really adventurous, ditch the flakes and carve out a Ivory soap suppository.

I normally go this route on deep clensing enemas. I'll carve out a 2-inch by .5 inch bullet out of the ivory soap, slip it in, then give a deep full-gallon warm enema. It doesn't cause cramping, but really kicks in the peristalsis action. If you follow it up with an inflatable butt-plug and force hold it in, the waves of the peristalsis action almost feel like tiny orgasms.

Instead of Ivory soap flakes,I soak a bar of Ivory soap in a peanut butter jar and let it stay there to liquidfy pour some into the enema bag to use for the enema. As you use the soapy mixure,replace the solution you had just put into the bag with more water in the jar.You will always have an Ivory soap mixure ready to go.Good luck

Okay... I've heard time and time again, over the years about the use of Ivory soap in enemas. I'm mostly a plain water type of person, although I have tried Dr. Bonners liquid peppermint castile soap a couple times, and found it a bit harsh, (although it smelled good).

So I'm wanting to finally try the Ivory soap thing. But I've got some questions for anyone know ledgable about this. First, how in the world do you take a solid bar, and turn it into a liquid that will mix with water?

I actually bought a bar, shaved it down with a knife, and tried stirring it around in some hot water, but it didn't melt or liquidize to where I could mix it in with enema water... just too many little pieces that wouldn't dissolve.

And then after I get some suggestions on how to 'melt' that bar, how much of the bar do you use? Say for a 2 quart enema...

I recall the last time in the grocery store looking at soap, I noticed the Ivory bar soap among the others, then also noticed that there was some 'liquid' Ivory soap in a bottle.

Would that be the same stuff? Or would it have other ingredients in it to where I should avoid that?

Having a liquid Ivory soap would solve the problem of trying to dissolve that bar so it will mix with water. But then comes the question of how much of the liquid should be used? (If it should be considered at all).

Beware of the liquid soaps you find on most store shelves. Many of these are detergent based and not something that you want in your tummy.

Dr. Bronner's is, of course, a notable exception to this rule.

Not tried soap,I use only clear water. Does a good job-2 to 4 at a time.Usually 4-Qts. Have fun!

Do not use liquid Ivory. It is not the same formula as the bar version. The liquid has additives that are no good for you. Just use the bar by either swishing or by agitating it by using it like washing your hands in warm water until it becomes almost milky in nature.

I have used many different soaps over the years and still stand by good old Ivory. Kirk's cramps me a bit much and Dr. Bronners affects me in a hit or miss way. A nice Ivory soapsuds enema works wonders for me. It is gentle and doesn't cramp me and I never have a problem expelling, unlike tapwater and saline ones.

I have tried Dr. Bronners and I too find it very crampy. I have tried different ratios of soap and water and can never get a full 2 quarts in before the cramps are over whelming. Now Ivory I can take 3 quarts and hold it 10-15 minutes and many times with no cramping. I keep a bar soaking in a plastic drank cup. After a day or so it becomes soupy like. Pour into your 2 quart make up picture and add your hot water, then charge your bag. Pour the soap bar back into the storage cup and add water until it is about a inch about the bar. It may or may not float. Then put it in storage till next time.I have done this for years and my mom kept a mason jar on stand by 24/7

Ivory soap has always been a favorite to use in enema solutions as long as I can remember. I let the bar soak for around five minutes and then swish it around in a quart of water. It is then poured into the bag and procedure is repeated for the next quart.

Liquid ivory soap should never be used.

OK,here's the answer to your Ivory soap question.Find a glass jar such as a peanut butter or gravy one,put the whole bar of Ivory soap in the jar and fill with hot water,put the cover on and waite a couple of days.The water will look milky.When you are ready for your next enema,pour some of the milky looking solution into your enema bag,then refill the jar with water and put the cap back on.Always leave the soap in the jar w/the water so the next time you take an enema the liquidfied soap will be ready to use. If you have a couple of extra jars around,you could pour off the soapy solution from the first jar and have a good supply of soapy solution ready-made for future enemas.I use the system all the time.Let the good times flow. w/m72yrs/Western MA

Another easy way if you haven't planned ahead is use a plastic (or glass if you want) pitcher about two quarts - put the bar of Ivory in the pitcher and fill say half full with hot water and let it sit for a minute or two until there is a layer of soft soap on the bar - swish it around for a minute or so and then fill the container with water at the right temp to provide the solution temp you want. Fill your bag and you're ready for the classic "good enema." (Warmer the better, I always think.)

There is apparently no variation in chemical content listed and it would seem the liquids would be easier to use if it is the same (chemical) product. Any opinions or knowledge here? Any products to avoid, etc?

When I was a kid in a childrens hospital for twelve years,the nurses who gave me many enemas there used a soap called green soap for enemas.I don't know the brand name of the soap,perhaps someone out there knows.When I came home from the hospital at age fouteen,I use Ivory hand soap because it was easier to liquify in water.For years Ivory hand soap has been the standard soap for enemas and people seem to be happy with it.Now I use the Ivory bar soap along with the liquid hand soap and found little differance.I just think that most of us who use Ivory are satisfied with the product.Let the good times flow.w/m72yrs/Western Ma

I have found that Ivory liquid was a bit harsh. Prefer castille soap. No cramps and smells great!

The liquid soap is much stronger than thee bar.

Like many here, I grew up with bar Ivory soap, swished in the enema can by my mom. Now I find castile or goat milk soap more gentle and just as effective.

Ivory soap is a Proctor and Gamble product. It used to be made in Cincinnati, OH. The area around the plant was called "Ivorydale". In the lobby of the world corporate headquarters of P&G (locally referred to as Proctor and God) is a historical visual time-line display starting when P&G started by contracting for soap during the American Civil War. There is an interesting display about the "soap that floats", the present day Ivory soap. Air is injected in the soap before it is cooled into a bar to give it the floating quality. It also melts faster than other bar soaps since it is not as solid. The info in the display states it is a "mild, pure" castile soap. 99.44% pure as the ads claimed for years. The display also gives info on Ivory Snow. This soap was used for washing baby clothes and diapers because it was purported to be so mild. It was made by shaving regular Ivory soap. Ivory liquid hand soap is a concentrate...a little dab will do ya...to quote an old commercial for another product. I think that is why many here have stated they find it to be more potent and tends to cause a greater degree of cramping. You need very little to equal swishing a bar of ivory around for a good while.

Personally, I have always liked Ivory soap in my enemas. Have I inadvertently made it too strong at times....Yes. and I can tell you I moved to the toilet with a purpose!!!!. But like all good things a little moderation is called for. After a good old triple H (High, Hot and a hellva allot) double, double S (soap suds, milkey and frothy) two quart retention enema (usually I can only hold one of those for 5-10 minutes at most), for an excellent cleansing enema, I follow with a 2.5 quart tap water saline enema with a little baking soda to sooth the colon and rinse out any of the soap residue. Do I recommend this to others here. No, not necessarily. I think any enema should be comfortable for the receiver. But a little Ivory in the water does, I think, increase the effectiveness of a cleansing enema. But just because, at times, I like the milky, frothy ones, doesn't mean thats for everyone.

THIS IS WRONG. Only the bar Ivory is 99.44% soap. The others have detergents.

The Ivory Snow was discontinued in 1979 I believe, and that was as VP48 stated, shavings of Ivory bar soap.

Only the bar Ivory should be used in enemas, unless you want the added irritation, which admittedly, some do like.

I was lucky enough to have been a child just before they discontinued the Ivory snow. It made a great bubble bath to play in!

When I use ivory soap in my enema, I like the solution milky too. 😉

You know I haven't done Ivory in many years. I switched to castile and just haven't gone back. I will have to pick up a couple bars of Ivory next time I'm in the store.

Hi, friends of the bag...

Has anybody had the experience with a soapy enema of absorbing enough soap to be slightly nauseated? I've tried many ingredients, but the soapsuds, whether from ivory, Dr. Bronner's or Suave shampoo, (if injected high enough with a colon tube inserted high), and retained for a little bit, make me queasy. I really like the irritation of soapsuds, but don't like the other side effects. By the way, Suave shampoo is great for enemas!

Mom used to keep a jar that she would use a grater and have shaved ivory readily available. On Friday mornings before school enema i would see it and a few bars of ivory on the counter, i knew what i had to look forward to on the weekend

I like seeing the bar of ivory stirred in the water until it is milky and bubbly--that is how it was prepared when I was growing up. It made me so excited and when it was put in me I cramped and screamed but the results were really good. Cant get the same excitement from a liquid

I have tried various things, but mostly keep coming back to soap. Have tried Castille a couple of times but plain old Ivory is my favorite. I keep the bar in the bag, add some very warm water and shake and stir with the douche nozzle until it's very milky, then fill bag completely. I usually do mine standing as it's easier to clench my butt around the nozzle to help retain it, take about half the bag (quart) and then refill to the top and take the rest. Standing allows me to rotate my hips in a circular motion while filling to allow the flow to continue until the bag's empty. Taking this way I can fill my colon fill completely all the way to the bottom of the asending part on my right side. Taking large amounts in other positions usually results in leaking and a mess before getting to the toilet. Alas, my wife to help in enjoy other positions would be wonderful, but......
