Fleet bisacodyl enema

Anyone remember these? They were sold in drugstores but started to vanish in the 80's.

Boy were they effective- much stronger cramps than soapsuds. I had one given to me

when I was a college freshman.

One day last week, I started the day feeling the need for an enema. Unfortunately, my plans for the day included a long road trip with my truck and no opportunity for the private time an enema requires. I really wanted a enema so I stopped at the local K-Mart to buy a Fleet enema. I had not had one of those for so long I had forgotten what they felt like.

I was surprised to find a new product (new to me anyway), the Fleet Enema Extra, which advertised 70% more volume. It also promised "extra cleansing and extra relief". Bigger and better is the American way, right? It was $1.79 compared to $2.21 for a twin pack of regular Fleet enemas. I decided to purchase one along with a couple other items so I would not have to suffer the embarrassment of the check-out girl knowing I just came in to get an enema.

Later, at a truck stop, I went into the men's restroom, went into a stall, and removed my pants and Jockey underwear. The instructions on the Fleet enema package call for lying on the left side or using a knee-chest position, neither of which are possible in a toilet stall. So I bent over as far as I could and injected the Fleet Enema Extra. I maintained that position while waiting for the enema to take effect, which only took about four minutes.

When I started to cramp really hard, I looked under the stall dividers to see that I was alone in the room, then sat down and released. The cleanout felt terrific and I was pleased that it produced a minimum of embarrassing noises. If someone had been in the room, I don't think they would have suspected that someone in that stall had gotten an enema.

It is my opinion that the Fleet Enema Extra lived up to its promise. I felt good the rest of the day and the days to follow. I still much prefer my two-quart bag with a Castile soap solution, but Fleet works well when you need relief and only have access to a public restroom. It is cheap, quick, effective, and discrete.

Charlie...If ever in Minnesota, I would recommend staying away from airport bathrooms for your emergency enemas. It seems that some over-zealous undercover cops are eager to nail anyone making unusual noises or motions within the stalls. I think I would select a gas station facility, since

they usually accommodate only one user at a time.

I am excited and ready to try a public enema...never thought of that...

I have used a Fleet Extra before when I was running short on time and it worked wonders...I looked in Walmart the other day to buy another one and they didnt have nothing but the standard Fleets. Hope I can find these else where

Yes, I understand about the airport restrooms. Thank you for the reminder. One must be careful and use good judgement when in public.

I guess, however, if I ever had the misfortune of a run-in with security people or law enforcement, I would be honest about what I was doing. I was using the facility for what it is meant for and I just needed a little help to have a needed bowel movement. I would let the security folks be the ones who are embarrassed. I cannot imagine that I am violating any laws taking a Fleet enema in a restroom. If anyone has a different take on this, I would like to hear their opinion.

I was on a road trip (my job) and needed an enema. I purchased a Fleet in a drug store and continued on. I put the enema (still in its bag) on my dash board and let the sun heat it as I drove. Found a rest area took it in and used it. Again I bent over much like the first gentleman. After finishing I was happy to toss my used enema and box into a large open wire trash container, allowing everyone who came later to know what had gone on.

Charlie, I guess when you gotta, you gotta. Doing an E of any type in a truck stop doesn't make my short list of places to go, and things to try. BTW, the Fleet Extra has the same amount of phosphate and other salts as the original 4.5oz bottle, the only difference is the extra water and liquid volume. If you're at home (or anywhere other than a truck stop), you can save a buck and just refill the container with plain H20 after the first squeeze empties the bottle and repeat with the H20. Great marketing gimmick by the folks in Lynchburg, VA.

The Extra comes in a green/white box just like the 'regular', but the box is slightly bigger all-around. The Extra is not in all stores/pharmacies, but should be stocked by the larger stores. Chain pharmacies like CVS, Rite-Aid, and Walgreens all offer their own store brand "Extra" which will save a few cents compared to the branded Fleet product. It's all the same stuff.

Like some of the others who have posted, I ocasionally buy a Fleet enema when on a road trip and feel the need. Usually I take it in the truck where nobody can see me then run into Sam's or Wal Mart to use the rest room. I've tried the new larger Fleets and find the results anr much better. I put it on the dash or under the heater vent to warm it before using it. I can usually hold a regular Fleets about 10 minutes but have not been able to hold the larger one more than 5 minutes. The larger one feels great going in.

The Fleet extra does have the same amt of sodium phosphate, and the only "extra" is water. But I have found it to feel much more "complete" relief from it. It's probably all in my head, I'll bet

Fleet stopped making them, but sell the same solution in a squeeze bottle. One Fleet Bisacodyl enema mixed into each 40 oz of water makes a powerful cleansing enema.

Wow. i bet they are just great. bisacodyl tablets work well too.

Bisacodyl tablets come with an 'enteric' coating that keeps them from dissolving in stomach acids. These tablets don't dissolve in plain water, so most people grind them up to get them into solution. What I do is fill a shot glass with water, put in a teaspoon of baking soda, and then dump in 3 bisacodyl tablets, which is 1 and a half times the usual dosage. The tablets dissolve naturally and completely in a few hours, and this in 4 quarts of warm water works really well. I hold it through 3 sets of cramps and then expel on the 4th cramping. This results in fast and complete expulsion with no need to stick close to home afterward.

I quiet a few of these fleet enemas, however, they never give the same pleasure of a good old douch enema or massive bulb one

A few months ago, i was driving home (about a 4 hour drive)

i had an awful stomachache, noxious gas, stomach cramps...

about 1am, i stopped at a CVS, went in to pick up an enema (middle of nowhere, off I85 going through N. Carolina).

I didn't want to use it there in the store, so I bought the twin pack of store brand disposables (cheaper than the "extra")

I get back on the highway, wait until i see a Rest Area (they're state run bathrooms/picnic areas/vending area)

i parked my car, crawled in the back seat, and took both enemas.

waited a few minutes, then walked into the bathroom, proceeded to take the most relieving poop i've ever felt.

My stomach really did settle down after that...

Insert two "Magic Bullet" suppositories - hold for a minute or two but not long enough for them to start working on you. These are soluble in water and so if you add a quart or two of water slowly - while lying down in a comfortable position - you will get an incredibly powerful cleanout in about 20 to 30 minutes. This may be a little faster or a little slower depending on the person and their comfort with allowing a little time for the water to soften everthing and the bowels to react to the laxative involved. This is also Bisacodyl - just a little different formula which does work well with water.

Okay so I tried one. I've been occasionally using a normal Fleet enema as needed, but recently (a few months ago, posted about it) tried a Bisacodyl (generic Dulcolax) suppository as I got in childhood. This site reminded me of that, so I figured I'd revisit.

My latest bout of constipation could've been helped by either, but this time I decided to try the Fleet biscodyl enema that I discovered at an online drugstore. I figured it would be much like the suppository version since they are the same dosage. The idea of it being in a Fleet enema was appealing because of the convenience over suppository form.

Well the bottle was much smaller than I expected. In a way this was nice because its even less volume to get in, but also I kind of thought a little more liquid would be nice to help if you had a more serious case of constipation. Whatever.

I followed the instructions, administered it like a normal Fleet, and maintained position like it specified. So far so good, no drama.

After about 10 minutes I could definitely tell something was going on. This was about 5 minutes sooner and a bit stronger than what I started feeling when I took the suppository a few months ago. I was determined to hold this thing the "recommended" time of 15-20 minutes if at all possible.

Well after about 15 minutes it was clear to me this was a different experience than the suppository. For one thing, I didn't feel any of the mild discomfort, instead it was as though the bowel action was coming from very deep inside. I thought about it and it made sense. By remaining in this position, the Fleet had probably travelled a good bit up into my colon, unlike a suppository. The urgency I felt was also much more direct, for lack of a better word. It was strong and unfiltered, and came on sooner and faster.

When I got to the bathroom I had a very thorough experience, along with the familiar and sometimes unwelcome "lasting effect" that the suppository gives.

Overall I'd say it was extremely effective. It was a strong more thorough bowel movement than a regular Fleet enema I think, and definitely more than a suppository.

Again, file this under "whatever", just figured I'd share.

I've seen numerous references to Fleet bisacodyl here, but looking through 3 different pharmacies in the area I had not seen anything even coming close to a 'Fleet bisacodyl'.

Am I confused about these?

All I had seen on the shelves were Fleet Saline, and Fleet Mineral Oil. Read the labels, and in either bisacodyl wasn't shown as an ingredient. So where do I find these?

I had Googled it, and seen a lot of online places that carried them, but can these be purchased over the counter anywhere? Had tried CVS, Walgreen's, & Wal-Mart.

One other question for anyone that might know, is the Fleet bisacodyl water based, like in the Magic Bullet suppository, or oil based such as Dulcolax?

I would 'assume' if it is water based, it would absorb faster, and give a higher, more through clean-out???

Also, is this something that's going to keep you in the house, and near that bathroom for the rest of the day?

The Fleet Bisacodyl enema is water based, and needs to be shaken before use to re-suspend the bisacodyl in the enema prior to being given. You should also shake it just before adding it to a large volume enema, and the entire bag should be shaken just before you being the enema.

As for absorption, bisacodyl is a contact agent, so it is all a matter of how large a surface the drug can come in contact with. The more widely dispersed in the colon the drug is, the more effective it will be. Only tiny amounts of bisacodyl are absorbed, and the absorbed drug has no effect.

The addition of a Fleet Bisacodyl enema to a 1-2 liter enema does create some challenges. If you administer the enema to slowly, the bisacodyl will take effect and make it nearly impossible to take the full enema. Give it to quickly, and you activate the stretch receptors in the colon very rapidly, and you'll have to evacuate before you get the 'full benefit' of the bisacodyl.

The Bisacodyl will continue to stimulate the colon as long as it is there, so you can expect some 'continuing' activity until it is all gone (a 'rinse' enema may be helpful'.

Thanks for the very useful information! I know that the Fleet Bisacodyl is a real product as I had seen it on their web site. Unfortunately there just are no smaller non-chain pharmacies left in this area. They have all been forced out of business by the big chain giants.

Since I had an interest in trying the Magic Bullet as well, guess I'll try to find a web site that offers both and place an order, since I'm not going to find either locally and over the counter.

Will most likely try the Fleet bisacodyl two ways, straight from the bottle, then mixed in with an enema, and see which gives better results. For sure on a day when I have nothing else planned, or need to go out!

I've found them to be surprisingly ineffective. I tried them once when I was really plugged up, and only after 30 minutes of waiting did I feel a strong urge to evacuate. I expelled the small amount of liquid and that was it! I think the fact that bisacodyl is suspended (and not dissolved) in the liquid means there isn't much bowel contact.

In contrast, the magic bullet suppository delivers a concentrated dose to "one spot" in the rectum, so it's much more potent, but also burns like crazy. I've found that 2 of them melted in a quart of relatively hot water and then shaken up right before injection provides very powerful constipation relief. You'll be sore afterwards, though!

You can warm a mineral oil enema such as a Fleets Mineral Oil Enema in a pan of warm water and dissolve regular bisacodyl suppositories in this. They only take about 10 minutes to melt and dissolve and are undetectable in the liquid. I have never use more than one but that was very effective. This may be a very effective way to surprise a sub or punish a naught one! They will simply be unable to retain it as the body is not built to retain oil. After expulsion, (about 15 minutes total,) give a warm sse to wash out the remaining oil. I you don't do this the remaining oil with bisacodyl will leak out, (sometimes with a surprise,) for several hours. Diapers are a good precaution for a day or so after this enema.

The Fleet bisacodyl enemas work pretty well for me to relieve constipation. I bought a carton of 24 online. They are faster than a bisacodyl suppository and provide comparable relief. I can hold the bisacodyl enema about 12 minutes before it is going to come out whether I want it to or not. The suppositories take anywhere from 30 to 50 minutes to work.

Fleetsfan is right about the action feeling like it is coming from deep inside. I maintain a knee chest position while waiting for it to work, and I believe that the liquid does migrate fairly far up into my descending colon. For whatever reason, the bisacodyl enemas seem to finish working on my faster than the suppositoties, which keep my lower colon contracting for a good 30 minutes after the induced bowel movement. I usually have to hnag around on the toilet for about 10 or 15 minutes with the bisacodyl enema.

Most 'irritant' type of laxatives are Bisacodyl-based, usually 5mg tablets that are 'enteric coated' so they don't dissolve until they get into the colon. These tablets do not dissolve well in water, but can be crushed or, better yet, dissolved in a concentrated baking soda solution. I put two of these tablets (Wal*Mart house brand) into a shot glass with a half teaspoon of baking soda, and fill the shot glass to the top with warm water. In an hour the tablets have dissolved, and the solution can be added to a 1- or 2-quart enema. Contractions begin anywhere between 5 and 15 minutes after the solution is delivered, and cannot be held for much more than that. Evacuation is quick and complete. I would not stray far from a toilet for an hour or so, but past that there are no after effects.

I use it as a pre-enema, right before an Epsom Salt and Soapsuds.

Can't even feel it inside me. It DOES add "kick" to the main enema.

The smaller fleet really works at forcing you to go.

Thank you BowelBoy for the advise on how to get bisacodyl tablets to melt in water. I'll be trying a couple of quarts soon. It is also fun to melt a bisacodyl suppository in a Fleets mineral oil enema and give it to a sub or a naughty girl. She will see the bottle and think that it is just mineral oil but in about ten minutes she will find out that is much more. Then you can use your melted tablets in an sse to get the rest of the oil out without delay.

I got a great deal on some bisocodyl suppositories severao years ago. I don't like suppositories. But since they are fat based, they will melt in hot water. Now what I do is to melt the suppository in boiling water. Since I like a soap/bisocodyl enema anyway, I add the liquid soap to the water containing the melted suppository and make an emulsion of the two. Then I add the misture to the rest of the enema. The bisacocyl ensure that the ensuing enema will be effective.

Those were another of the "Bittersweet thoughts" experiences.

Sadness at their no longer being something to anticipate with the mixed fear and hotness of desire. Which plays against the feelings of what it was like as it made me HURT so deeply and for so long.

WOW- Needless to say- she starred in many fantasies. I was only in my teens and lacked the confidence to have pursued her.. Damn my shyness. Even so, yeah.. I can still see:
