How old were you the first time you had a filling?

I was 25 when I got my first cavity filled. Total nightmare. I was so anxious. They gave me two numbing shots in my gums, and I couldn't feel my mouth for two solid hours.

I was pretty young the first time I had a cavity filled but I don’t really remember how old. Definitely younger than 10 though

I don’t quite remember when it was for me either. I think it was when I was around 6 or 7 though. I was pretty young.

I was 16. Was a great shock after being cavity free before. And it wasn't just 1, but 6 fillings!

I think I was around 13 or 14, I had teeth out at 12 for overcrowding, I still remember that injection and laying in the chair until I went numb, wasn't happy about it at all, but now I look back and think it's why I have my dental interest/kink, which I'm happy to have❤️

16. I always had great teeth growing up and brushed frequently. When I found out I had to get one I was upset! I remember arguing with my dad over it saying there is no way because I brush so often and so carefully.

Age 6 i had my first filling with a female dentist in her mid 60´s. She had cream colored latex gloves on during the whole exam.

I think I was about 7 or 8. I bit the dentist!! My mother told me later in life that I was invited to not come back!! lol. Denise

I was six or seven years old.

Dr. McKay was a big burly man who never smiled. I was afraid of him when I wasn't in his chair and I was absolutely terrified of him when I was in his chair.

He did not use nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and he did not have an assistant. Usually, an assistant suctions all the debris away so your mouth stays clean. Without an assistant, Dr. McKay just drilled away, flinging the ground-up enamel around in my mouth causing me to gag on the debris but also because of the awful smell that was like burning flesh or burning hair. Every few minutes, he would withdraw his drill and growl, "Turn your head and spit."

With a numb tongue and mouth, I would try to spit into the little, swirling toilet bowl next to the chair. It wasn't a toilet bowl, but it looked almost like one. I couldn't really spit so I just drooled into the bowl.

I've been terrified of the dentist ever since and the nitrous oxide and the headphones with music help me to zone out so I can get through the dental visit.

I was 20/21 I cannot exactly remember

I so not know why, but nitrous oxide simply does not seem to have any affect on me. That seems strange and I wonder if any others have had a similiar experience.

I cant remember exactly...but it was definitv in the baby teeth. ( i have them in a small box;-)

think i was 5 or 6 years old.
