Temperature taken followed by suppository

How many of you had your temperature taken and then would be followed up by a Tylenol Suppository?

At home, most of the time as a kid, I knew that temperature taking rectally means most probably a suppository will follow, which I hated.

It also happened once at one of my pediatricians when I was 16. This doctor usually takes my temperature by mouth or under arm before the exam, and if the numbers indicated that I had fever he would retake it rectally at the end of the exam for an accurate reading. I remember this day very well as it was very embarrassing..

When I was on the exam table after finishing the exam he told me to turn over and drop my pants so he would take my temperature again, I turned and slowly dropped my pants, he spread my cheeks and inserted the thermometer until I felt pain.. He usually used little vaseline on the top of the thermometer for lubrication, I think not enough to prevent pain. He then said to my mother I will give her tylenol suppositories if the fever is high... I was not happy to hear this but I thought he meant that he will only prescribe them so I can take them at home ... but to my sad surprise when he removed the thermometer, as I tried to raise my pants fast he told me to wait and then told the nurse "get me a tylenol suppository".

Honestly I was not believing this was happening ... I couldn't say a word, I was too embarrassed to look up. Then I heared the plastic wrap of the suppository and immediately felt him spreading my butt cheeks again and inserting it, and this suppository hurt me as he pushed it deep inside with his finger with no vaseline.

Always got suppositories for fever, usually after the RT about every 3 or 4 hours, when sick.

If the meter in the pile showed a fever, it automatically knew to put a paracetamol suppository in the pile. I secretly enjoyed this situation and often wished that the meter would have shown a little warmth

We were no stranger to suppositories, but we made a fuss and it was more of a last resort thing. Our neighbour was a nurse and she told my mom that in case of a stubborn fever that won’t break you could use a Disprin [normal aspirin pill] up the rear. Not sure if anyone else heard about this. But in very rare stubborn cases of fever mom would resort to a vaseline covered disprin up the bum, that got the job done. This particular brand of aspirin dissolves in water, do I suppose it will melt in your behind too. Booty bumping oral meds was restricted to disprin only, and only for fever. It’s a bit more challenging to administer because the pill isn’t shaped like a torpedo nor is it waxy. You have to cover it in vaseline and insert it well past the internal muscle in order to melt

I remember that. I think its because homes don't have antibiotic...

For some reason, why mom was a fan of suppositories for throat ache and constipation, for fever I just recall oral medications. I probably got suppositories for that when little but I don't recall that.

It was very common that I received a suppository when the thermometer showed that I have a fever.

This procedure happened several times with my mom caring for me when I was ill. Once I felt her hand on my forehead, it was not long before I was told to report to her room for a temperature check.

Something that may bring some memories to some of you. If my mother gave me a suppository with drugs (I don't mean the laxative ones), she would always ask me to go try having a bowel movement before. So I don't think she would have slipped a suppository right after a temperature, she would have first made me go potty.

I'd have to say Mom did want to make sure we didn't poop them out before they were absorbed, ya she would ask if we had BM that day. Mom gave enemas for constipation, so she would hold off on suppositories until after an enema if she decide we needed one.

@Kenw My mom went beyond that. She'd send me to go potty before suppositories unless she was sure I'd pooped recently, not just "today".

My mother took my rectal temperature and also wiped my ass until I was nine years old. She gave me baby aspirin when I had a fever. She never gave me suppositories and to be honest, I have never heard of such a thing as suppositories being given to kids until I started reading medical fetish sites. But here's a story about my first experience with suppositories when I was a kid. My mother and I were shopping at a supermarket one time and we passed through the health and medicine aisle. While she shopped in another aisle, I went back to the medicine aisle and looked at the suppositories. Back then the boxes of suppositories weren't sealed. I know it was naughty, but I slid a box open, took a few suppositories, and put them in my pocket. Seeing all those commercials for Preparation H made me very curious and I wanted to try some. So I hid the suppositories in my bedroom and used them. I definitely felt them coating my rectum after they melted. I liked the feeling.

Mom took our temperature with a glass thermometer, she had 2 of them. If we had a bad cough or nauseated she took our temperature in our butts. Most of the time she would use the oral thermometer first as we got older. I don’t remember her using a suppository for fever but for vomiting or nausea she did. She used them for constipation too.

In the 80’s I do remember one trip to the emergency room on a Saturday night very well, I was about 15 and had the flu and I remember mom saying she was gonna take me to the emergency room when we arrived they took me back. After a brief wait a couple of nurses came in and said that they needed to get my vitals, one started to take my blood pressure the other one took my temperature in my mouth, after she removed the thermometer looked at it an said that my temperature was 103. She asked mom how long I’ve been running a temperature which she said for several hours and that’s why she decided to bring me in.

They had me go ahead and remove my clothing leaving my underwear and socks on and gave me a blanket. The one nurse asked me how I was feeling and what my symptoms were, basically just a really bad headache, coughing, a little upset stomach, bodyaches and chills, that was pretty much it. I remember the one nurse telling my mother that they would take my temperature again in just a few minutes to see what it was showing and they would be back and left the room which was no more than a cubicle in a large room with curtains. I remember it was a busy place that night, quite a few people moving around when two more nurses came into the area. One saying we need to get your temperature again and we need to take it in your bottom this time. One nurse was already holding the thermometer and the other ones had me roll over on my stomach, she reached into my waistband and pulled my underwear down and the other one put in a thermometer. After she took it out she told my mother the doctor had ordered Tylenol suppositories, then she gave me the suppository and said that the doctor would be in in just a few minutes

After the doctor came in did a quick exam then told my mother that this was going around bad, that the suppository should reduce my fever and he would order me a shot for the nausea and write a prescription for suppositories for fever and nausea and the nurse would be back in a few minutes with the shot. After about 30 minutes wait the nurse returned, gave me a shot in the butt and then said she needed to take my temperature to see if the Tylenol was working and again that was taken in my butt, and then I got to go home.

The embarrassment of this and then getting home and mom telling everyone what took place. But before the weekend was out my sister had the very same thing and then my mother gets sick, but at least they have the suppositories

When the thermometer pulled out of my bum showed fever, usually a suppository of Paracetamol followed directly. My parents said my hole is still lubed, so the insertion will be more comfortable. I received Paracetamol up to 3, at teenage years 4 times a day, if needed

My husband and I affectionately called it “the 3 AM suppository.” After nearly 40 years, we still remember. I’d been critically injured in an accident shortly after we were married. After coming home from the hospital, I had an infection and 102 temp. I could not take Tylenol by mouth until the surgery healed, so the visiting nurse providing home care while I recovered recommended 650mg acetaminophen suppositories. They were a godsend so I could sleep.

My husband gave me one around 10 PM when we went to bed, and then he got up at 3 AM to give another one. I think this continued for three nights. Angie the nurse joked that it was a cool way for newlyweds to get to know each other!

The posts are a great sign of how medical and erotic get so thoroughly mixed. There is something about the invasive, inappropriateness of so many medical procedures that make them an erotic turn on, especially since they happen under the auspices of health, treatment, care, and well-being. Uh huh. sure. We all know that's just half the story.

I have not experienced this as a child but I have certainly done it to myself a time or two

As kids, if mom suspected we had a fever, we were sent to her bedroom for a rectal temp. If the thermometer came out soiled but not elevated, she would insert a glycerin suppository. If after 15 minutes nothing happened, it was enema time.

Not a Tylenol but often after a RT mom would say, "I'll go get the suppositories for you." Or, "I think I should give you a suppository." Glycerine ones.

Both, depending on who was present while I was ill or had to be checked having fever or not

I got my temperature taken rectally as a child. I never got a suppository's as a child

I used to get daily suppositories for constipation and frequently got my temperature taken in my bottom by my mum

Practitioners were big on suppositories and nurse big on RT

Mom woukd take our temperatures and if we had a fever high enough and coukd not keep meds down it was a suppository.

Also I guess that if a temperature check was positive and warranted a paracetamol suppository, mom would have me go poopy in between. Mom would never give drugs in suppository form (except laxatives) without having me go poopy first.

If the temperature was above what mom wanted it to be. She would get a suppositiory. Large or small depending on the temperature.
