Okay, I've read numerous posts about using Glycerin, and I want to learn more about the use of it in enemas.
I'm sure I'll get a wide range of answers here, hope I don't find a lot of contradicting information that will leave me still wondering about it.
Does Glycerin contain actual medication in it that will help promote evacuation?
Or
Is it just a 'slippery' substance, like possibly an oil based product, that just helps move things along easier?
I do have a particular reason for inquiring about this. I have not tried liquid Glycerin as of yet, but have some, and am thinking about trying it.
I have tried Glycerin suppositories, two to three at a time, and they seem to only promote evacuation of the lower rectum area, but nothing further up.
I have used a 2 quart bag with about 2 tea spoons of baking soda, and 2 tea spoons of salt mixed in with warm water.
After a 'shower shot' type of rinse first, (which I seem to need before attempting to take a 2 quart bag), I don't seem to have much problem taking the 2 quart bag with the baking soda and salt. In fact that last time I tried that, it all went in pretty easily. No cramping, no problem holding it.
The no 'problem holding it' may be an issue with me. It all went in fine, no urge to expel, other than what was lower down in the rectum, actually wondering where it went to, as I really didn't feel that full. But it seemed like I sat for a couple hours waiting for it to come back out!
And everytime I 'thought' I was finally empty, left the bathroom, I found myself running back there. Like several times over several hours.
I hesitated trying to do another bag, thinking that maybe more would help flush out the first. But I didn't want to add to this problem, and spend the entire night running back and forth to the bathroom.
When I do an enema I want to get it done and over with. Not that I don't find some enjoyment in them, but I don't want to make a day out of it!
I want to fill myself up, empty out, do a rinse, and know that I'm completely cleaned out. And without any worries that there will still be some left in there, waiting to come out later on.
So... will doing a Glycerin enema help my particular situation? Is there some medication within it that will help promote complete evacuation?
And if so, when using the liquid Glycerin, how much should I add to the water? As well as how much water should I try to take with it?
Also, should I continue the baking soda and salt with the Glycerin?
And for those that will suggest using Ivory soap, along with the baking soda and salt, I have tried that combination, and found no real difference. The water goes in, but forever coming back out.
Or, the second part of the question, is Glycerin just adding a slippery substance to the water, or acting as a stool softener in some way, such as something like mineral oil, maybe baby oil, or vegetable oil?
Something else... Has anyone found using any kinds of these oils a better way to achieve a complete clean out, say with one or two bags, and not spending 4 to 5 hours in the process of cleaning out fully?
I have spotted a few posts here where it seems like others experience some of the same issues. Taking a bag in, but trouble, (or a lot of time), waiting for it to all come back out.
Possibly some opinions on the use of liquid Glycerin may help others as well in their quest of a good clean out, without those concerns of finding they didn't completely empty out some time later. Or spending 4 or more hours to achieve a complete cleaning.
