Relationship between Sadist & Masochist verses Dom & Sub

I'm curious if there is any difference between the relationship of a Sadist and Masochist verses a Dom and a sub. With a Dom and sub, there is a subservient relationship for the sub. The sub wants nothing but to please their Master. In a Sadist & Masochist relationship it's all about the delivery and receiving of pain. I consider myself a masochist , I'm not into licking boots, or sitting on a leash at my Masters feet, being locked in a cage like a dog. Please, I am NOT criticizing any of that, it's just not my thing. As a masochist, I want to be able to handle any pain inflicted by the Sadist. If that means sucking cock, or getting a hard dick slammed up my ass, so be it. So, do Sadist and Doms, have the same requirements for their masochist and sub. I hope there is a emotional connection between both. Developing a connection is an important part of any relationship.

A relationship remains a relationship, no matter its type and dynamic. In a healthy relationship, all parties need be considerate of each other's needs, desires, etc. Honestly, a sadist/masochist relationship is and should be no different than any other relationship: the sadist needs/wants to administer pain, and the masochist needs/wants to receive pain. Always consensually of course.

Now, a sadist isn't necessarily a Dom, and a masochist isn't necessarily a sub. They can simply be a Top and a bottom, for instance. And I suppose that there can or can't be an emotional connection between a sadist and a masochist. If they aren't involved in a relationship, why should there necessarily be an emotional connection for all needs to be satisfied? Maybe each person is simply there to satisfy their own needs, which the other can do. But yes, if one of the goals is to be involved in a relationship, a minimal connection is ideal, of course.
