The line from Hamlet “The lady doth protest too much, methinks” always comes to mind when I read anything on this topic. So many folks claim that this could never happen, a doctor would never do this or that, it's impossible, it's just a routine job, and so on. And just like the lady in Hamlet the ever increasing protest betrays them. Whether from a real doctor or a poser, when you go overboad with a denial you betray your real thoughts...either you are guilty of the act yourself or you have some type of guilt reaction to your own feelings on the subject.
I can find through a quick internet seach one case after another of a gynecologist losing his license for sexual imposition on a patient. So yes they were sexually aroused, and greatly sexually aroused, and yes they were licensed physicians.
No offense to those who clain otherwise - but honestly I'd like to hear …in depth… why you feel that way - what evidence do you have that it could never happen, how do you know, how can your prove your theory, why would you doubt a sincere account ( I'm not talking about wild fantasy claims ) that something occured and does occur?
Bottom line is that doctors are not robots and do in fact have sexual thoughts… just like any other person may have a sexual thought…it could be your doctor, your accountant, your mechanic, your dog sitter. I'd agree that the OP is certainly a bit over the top thinking that every exam produces a sexual thought. Having been in the exam room numerous times myself I can tell you that you get pretty good at spotting the doctor who enjoys what he is doing…it's obvious going back and watching video of the exam…and yet everything remained completely professional.
So I'd love to hear the other side, maybe a different discussion group area is more appropriate for that type of debate, but I'm interested in the theory that doctors are biologically or psychologically different from everyone else and what empirical eveidence actually exists to support it. That said I'll admit that I really enjoy those rare moments in the exam room watching the interactions between my wife and the doctor.
