Now that you make me think about it, I would have to say that doing enemas or having an enema kink, has nothing to do with your IQ. I've met people of every walk of life that enjoy getting a bellyful. From professors and professionals, to people that may have problems with tying their own shoes. Another thing I noticed is that the more simple minded are more open toward living their kinks openly with their family and friends....to me it kind of makes sense....

I get tired of hearing people talk about how smart they are particularly if they hold an advanced degree. My husband and I have friends and neighbors who current are professors or are retired ones. Some are quite bright whereas others let's just "less so." Some know a lot about their own little narrow world but for anything else are really challenged. On the other hand my husband is an engineer but can hold his own when discussing classical music, political economics, plus enough other topics that I will occasionally accuse him of being a wonderful source of useless knowledge--he's awesome when watching Jeopardy. The key point here is that he will never ever tell you that he is smart. Oh, and did I mention that he knows how to make and give a great enema?

No doubt it would make for writing an interesting grant application to determine and folks should understand the difference between someone who’s knowledgeable versus intelligent.

That is hard to say, since it is virtually impossible to measure, and I do not think academic credentials are a good yardstick, since I have maintained for years that a college degree has nothing to do with how smart you are and more to do with how hard you are willing to work. With that preamble out of the way, I have to say that we are indeed a unique group that has sexualized a procedure that most find unpleasant. I have no idea how we all evolved into who we are, but somehow we have learned to acknowledge the abundance of endorphins present in the bowel. My feeling is that the entire GI tract is one big pleasure dome for us, from the start, "I think I am going to double my pleasure with this piece of pumpkin pie by adding even more whipped cream!" to the finish, "Nothing feels better to me than having a good shit." Somehow, we have learned to enjoy overstimulating our bowels with enemas and the incredibly strong pleasure that we are able to achieve by doing this. My enema orgasms to this day are the strongest orgasms I have ever had in my life, much surpassing any I ever had with regular sexual intercourse, and there is a part of me that wishes I could share this with the rest of the world, but we all know pretty much how that would turn out. 😃 So, in summary, I am not sure we are "above average intellectually," but I am sure we are unique and not afraid to expand and experiment with our sexuality.

A couple of observations are in order:

1) Who cares about our intelligence? Other that feeding our egos, why does this matter?

2) I am always very suspect of survey research because so much hinges on the target group. Always think of this anytime you look at results because manipulation is too often possible.

3) Someone in this thread said something to the effect that intelligence and knowledge do no equate. To them I have to say "spot on!"

4) I like this group. Most of you are sincere any everyone seems to want to be polite. You keep me coming back.

Years ago, I worked up enough courage and desire to attend EFEST events in Las Vegas. I had previously very limited interaction with others who shared in our rather unique kinks.

I was pleasantly surprised at the cross section of individual personalities, ages, and different careers of those attending. I will say that most attendees were quite articulate and professional in their chosen fields of interest. While nobody was bragging about academic acheivement, most were very competent/confident in their own chosen careers and lifestyles.

It was obvious that an interest in various "kinky" behaviors had little to do with any intellectional status or normalcy regarding everyday ljfe. The kinky activities merely enhanced, or provided a degree of stress relief, as each of us strived for success in day to day life and relationships.

I've been to several Florida Efests. There are a bunch of engineers and computer guys there. Works for me since I'm an engineer.

If one of the traits of intelligence is curiosity, then I think that could be true. As a wife and mom with two now grown daughters, I’ve had the responsibility of caring for my family’s health, including my husband, who sometimes forgets about the best ways to take care of himself.

From early in our marriage, I was curious on how to handle family health “emergencies” (scrapes, cuts, colds, flu, etc.), so I read Red Cross and other medical guides, including how to give an enema, which I also learned from a home health nurse who took care of me. I think my curiosity served me well.

Hear me out, but I think the enema enthusiasts on this board probably are of above-average intelligence.

Enema use is like a long N-of-1 experiment, and many here optimize their equipment and techniques, some quite creatively. I agree with @Vicki_V about curiosity being a trait that often accompanies higher IQs. Some of us hail from the realms of engineering and design, but others have entered them in pursuit of this hobby.

Next, I think a largely text-based forum such as this naturally appeals to people who feel very comfortable reading and writing. And I’m especially impressed by those reading and writing here in a second or third language. The people who gather here are likely a bit above the intellectual norm already.

Put the two together and, yes, I think this cross-section of enema users is smarter than the average bear.

Research into intelligence/kinkiness yields mixed results. Some indicate that the more intelligent the more likely to engage in less traditional sexual practices while others suggest the more intelligent you are the less you have sex.

Therefore, from that last statement, with just a little bit of inference, imagining, fudging, and rounding up, we can easily, illogically and inappropriately conclude that enema enthusiasts are not just above average intellectually, they are actually in the top 1% of the population intellectually, cerebrally, mentally, academically, scholastically, and educationally. Having just made this all up a moment ago, it has to be true. Yes, clearly enema enthusiasts are well above average intellectually.
