A Visit to Mrs. Guiles

A Visit to Mrs. Guiles

I'd seen the yellow page advertisement before while looking for the location of an electronics store but I'd not paid much attention to it. Now there it was again and this time it peaked my interest.

Colonic Irrigation

By Appointment:

Grace Guiles

Licensed Hydrotherapist

1234 Pershing Drive

555-1212

Eventually I called and set an appointment for the following Saturday morning. Ms.or Mrs.Guiles must have sensed my

nervousness after determining that I'd never had a colonic before and in answering my questions told me that there was no preparation necessary, just to come in and be relaxed. Well I'd done it and now the wait till Saturday morning set the butterflies working in my stomach.

My appointment was for 10 AM and I arrived a few minutes early at the address on Pershing Drive. It was a large family house with a broad porch running all across the front. The small sign in the glass of the door said to "Ring Bell and Go In". This done I entered into a living room that that covered the front half of the house. There was a desk and chair in the far left corner and a hallway in line with the front door which lead towards the rear of the house. As I sat down on the couch and picked up one of the magazines from the coffee table I became aware of voices in conversation and the sound of running water, both noises coming from down the hallway. After a while a woman in a white lab coat came into the room and introduced herself as Mrs.Guiles. She sat at the desk and had me take an adjoining seat as she filled out a patient card with my background data. With this completed she had me follow her down the hallway to a series of changing booths which branched off to the left. She took a hospital gown and a pair of slippers from a linen closet and told me to change in one of the booths and secure my clothing in one of the locker boxes that were against the opposite wall. While I was changing I heard Mrs.Guiles bidding good-by to the previous patient and telling her that she'd see her next Thursday. I changed into the hospital gown and Mrs.Guiles pointed out the lavatory telling me to empty my bladder before we get started. In heading to the toilet I passed what appeared to be two narrow treatment rooms parallel to the corridor that held the changing booths. I was unable to identify anything other than the treatment tables as the room was partially obscured by a doorway curtain.

When I came out of the toilet Mrs.Guiles took me down to the first room next to the changing corridor and showed me a life sized chart of the intestinal system and explained how body waste could accumulate if the colon wasn't kept in good health. She went on to tell me that the treatment would consist of a series of small wave like flushes that would be individually removed, working their way up from the rectum across the entire length of the colon. She then drew back the curtain and had me sit up on the table.

The examining or colonic table was covered with a white sheet, with a small pillow on the far end and had a large absorbent pad in the middle. Two hoses led from under this pad, the larger connected to a stand that had two glass tubes in front of a florescent light. Against the wall just inside the entrance there was a black cabinet with a few faucet handles and some gauges. I thought I'd see some sort of reservoir but my imagination wasn't fulfilled. Mrs.Guiles told me that this was a Dierker colonic machine and that the faucet valves controlled the temperature of the water and the flow that would be removed via the large tube. The return would pass through the glass tube where progress would be reviewed and if anything needed to be collected it could be obtained by isolating one or the other of the two vial like glass sections. She asked if I had any questions but I was too dry and nervous to respond. She had me lie down on my right side and after adjusting my legs I almost jumped off the table as a well lubricated finger was thrust up my bottom and probed around before I knew what was happening. "You're slightly impacted but that'll be no problem" was her remark as she withdrew her finger and removed a rubber glove that I'd never seen her put on. With that she left the room and I could hear her in the next corridor as a cabinet was opened and closed. She reentered the room with something silver in her hand but I couldn't see what she had as it was held to the side. She reminded me of the way the dentist used to cloak the syringe when I was to get a shot of Novocain.

She asked me to take a deep breath and I tensed something fierce waiting to be invaded. "Now relax and take a real deep breath through your open mouth" was the instruction and as I did this something large shot up my bottom and I let out some sort of a startled cry. "You're all right now" was her remark as she connected the hoses to what was up into me and placed some kind of a weighted pillow to hold the tubing in place. I heard water starting to run but didn't feel anything at all. She explained this as filling the return or exhaust system and to let her know when I was ready to start.

I guess I said the magic word although I don't really recall. All I remember is just the feel of warmth as the first wave from the machine entered my innards. This lasted for maybe twenty or thirty seconds and them I could feel the water being drawn out of me. Mrs.Guiles asked if I wanted to view the results as the return passed in front of the light but I declined. After about five minutes or so of this she had me roll over onto my back, supporting my connection to the machine and the weight as I turned to the new position. I could feel that the water had progressed to up under my rib cage when she stopped the flow and began massaging my left side and kneading the flexure where the colon turned to go across my body. This was really different from any enema that I'd had as there was no undue pressure or the cramping that usually accompanied it. Well this went on, the in and out of the water occasionally interrupted for a series of kneading and massage along the length of the colon. Towards the end of the hour she alerted me to the fact that she was going to decrease the temperature and "Go high up into you". This really brought my insides alive as the cool water ran way up into me without any interference. After the second of these rinses she told me that on the third time she wanted me to hold the water. I would be disconnected and then go to the toilet to empty out. I thought that this filling was going to come out my mouth she put so much water up into me and I had to ask her to please stop. She removed the monstrous nozzle by pulling it back and at the same time pressed a large gauze pad against my anus. She had me apply pressure to the pad and this helped me hold my bellyful till I was on the toilet. Lord, my belly was so swollen that I needed her help to get down off the table before starting my run to the toilet.

When I finally emerged she wanted to be assured that I was finally empty and asked how I felt. I had to admit that while nervous apprehension and the session had taken a lot out of me I definitely felt better and was now more relaxed.
